Alan Gannon and his family have been working in and around the funeral industry locally for some years. Alan saw an opportunity to start his own independent family run funeral directors in the local area, after seeing the amount of families who struggled to meet the ever rising costs of a funeral (currently averaging approximately £4000 in the South East).
Alan says “ Its not about how much you spend on a funeral, its about the people who are involved” Alan prides himself on being the only person you will be dealing with at every stage of the arrangement, and contactable whenever you need him “Some families need more time than others, having my own funeral directors means I can give as much time, and care to each family as required”
For Alan the importance of being able to deliver a funeral at an affordable cost without compromising on quality or professionalism is key “I have created a funeral package which is affordable to everyone, however if you wish to add to it you can”
Direct cremation’s have only become more popular due to well known celebrities such as ‘David Bowie’ and Author ‘Anita Brooker’. A direct cremation is where a deceased is transported from the mortuary directly to the crematorium within a few days following the death. It is a minimalist option, whereby there are no attendance, procession, or ceremony.
A direct cremation should not be considered a ‘Cheap Funeral’, simply it removes the constraints and stress of making prompt formal decisions. This then allows families to arrange more fitting memorial service or reception at a time, and place more suited for all to attend, if desired.
