✨ TRETINOIN – THE GOLD STANDARD (BUT HANDLE WITH CARE) ✨
What it does:
Tretinoin is a prescription vitamin A that speeds up skin cell turnover. It helps with acne, fine lines, pigmentation, texture, and overall skin clarity. Basically… it trains your skin to behave better 😌
How beginners should start:
Less is MORE.
• Start 2 nights per week
• Use a pea-sized amount for the whole face
• Apply to completely dry skin
• Always follow with a moisturiser
Expect a settling-in phase (dryness, mild peeling) — this is normal, not a sign to panic 🚨
Who should avoid tretinoin:
❌ Pregnant or trying to conceive
❌ Very compromised or inflamed skin (eczema, active rosacea flares)
❌ Anyone not willing to wear SPF daily
Common mistakes I see:
⚠️ Using too much
⚠️ Applying every night too soon
⚠️ Mixing with strong acids/exfoliants
⚠️ Skipping SPF (this one is non-negotiable)
Simple starter routine:
🌙 PM
Cleanse → Moisturiser → Pea-size tretinoin → Moisturiser
☀️ AM
Gentle cleanse → Hydrating serum → Moisturiser → SPF 30–50 DAILY
✨ Consistency beats intensity. Results take weeks to months, but they are worth it.
