With exam results looming, we thought it was worth reflecting on what it feels like when things don't work out.

But it's not only exam results. Sometimes, it feels like things just never go our way.

Accepting what has happened can be really difficult, but this can be a process that can be supported by a therapist.

There are always going to be changes in life, big or small, voluntary or involuntary, so understanding why we don't like change is really important.

Today, we thought it would be helpful to compare two theories of change and help to expose the difficult bits.

Even planned change can have its pitfalls, how many people have got into a really good routine of going to the gym to change their health and fitness and then fallen out of that routine, relapsed into old ways, loads of people.....

How many people know someone isn't good for them, and the relationship needs to end? They break it off but then go back, a relapse in their intention to change....

And then there's the unplanned changes, the loss of a job, not getting those exam results, a medical diagnosis or the death of a loved one, shock and devastation is a typical response, withdrawing and becoming depressed can be experienced. The process of accepting the change is a long one that isn't always linear.

So why try to cope with this alone?
Reach out to people who you can trust, who will relate to your struggle, and seek professional support.

MENTAL HEALTH AWARENSS WEEK IS HERE!

The theme of the Mental Health Foundation's week is community.

In the therapy room, we often talk to clients about who they have around them and what they are a part of. Without community, life can feel isolating and lonely. So building our network and community is essential for our sense of belonging and purpose, which boosts our sense of worth and self-esteem.

So who do you have around you?
What communities are you a part of?

And if you are grateful for a community you are involved in and how that makes you feel, tell them.

We can start this by saying we really appreciate being part of the health and wellbeing communities we contribute to at and . We love being part of something bigger than what we can offer, bringing community members a holistic approach to their health and wellbeing. Thank you!

Now it's your turn, tell us about your community appreciation....

Have you ever thought that the reason you may need to come to therapy is actually a physical injury, diagnosis, or long-term condition?

We're not going to work on the treatment plan for the diagnosis or the rehab after an injury, but we are available to :

> Understand your circumstance
> Empathise with your sense of fear, frustration, isolation, and overwhelm, to name a few feelings
> To support you through the process of change
> To offer perspective and reflection
> To prepare you for your next chapter

This month, we're going to offer some insight into how medical diagnosis or injury can be experienced, how therapy can help and share that it's not something you need to deal with alone.

Please take this opportunity to share or comment if this resinates.

This relates to more than those in healthcare roles, but using this as an example given the survey data available, there is a high number of NHS employees suffering from burnout.

Are we paying attention to the signs and taking action to seek professional help?

It's what you would advise someone else to do if they came to you with such significant symptoms.

Get in touch if this resinates and you haven't yet taken action.

Arguments or conflict in romantic relationships can happen without without the actual cause being part of that relationship. We carry unresolved feelings in our next relationship, and this is why it can sometimes feel like the same mistakes are happening again.

We use the rucksack analogy in this example, and it's a useful one for life in general. But what are you carrying that is unresolved?
What are the feelings you've pushed away?
What have you tried to get over by concentrating attention on something else?

These unresolved feelings will come back when you don't want them to.

Therapy can help you prepare for your next relationship by making sure your rucksack is not overflowing.

Or if you are in the next relationship and things keep coming up, couples therapy can help you understand each other better and what's in your rucksacks, impacting your ability to communicate well.

If this resonates and you want to make a change DM or email contact@trytalking.org.uk

We're coming to the end of a long month when it comes to many people's bank accounts. It can be stressful making money stretch or opening the credit card bill.

So it got us thinking about money and what we think of it.

Would more make us happier?
Is the happiness we get from spending money short-lived?

And if we take a little time to reflect on how money makes us feel and how money drives us to behave, perhaps the reality isn't as clear-cut as more money makes us happier.

Let us know what you think and how you feel about your relationship with money and your expectations of happiness, it may or may not bring.

We're talking about depression this month.

We've had blue Monday this week, and for some people sadly every Monday may have been blue for a while, as depression has taken hold.

If this is the case, we have an alternative offering to medication.

The Strength of Mind programme is designed by bringing expertise from personal training and psychotherapy together to offer clients a personalised, holistic solution to fighting their depression.

Get in touch if you are interested in a free introductory chat.

Stepping out into the snow is a little bit like stepping into therapy, you don't really know how it's going to go.

Are you going to freeze and not be able to move forward?
Are you going to slip and fall?
Or want to turn back?

May be....but you'll always have your therapist with you to show the way or pull you along when you need it.
