At the seminar over the weekend I heard an awesome quote which made me think…

It was about how growth is essential in all our endeavours in health and fitness, but it’s important to see progress too.

Growth as in challenge. We need challenge to push and stretch ourselves.

Sometimes there’s no growth, sometimes there’s no progress. There’s no need to sweat when those two don’t happen.

If you find yourself a little on edge when there’s no progress happening, it’s important to sit in the middle and self reflect, so you don’t lose your mind 🤪

We can’t always be on it.

But there IS a middle ground.

“I’m not where I can be, but I’m proud of where I am”.

That quote sums up my journey with growing Apex.

I’m not where I want to be with our vision, YET…

But hell, I’m proud of where we’ve got.

And if I’m leaning into growth, I know it’ll come.

You need to have this approach in all your health goals.

It’s ok to not be where you want to be, but it’s important to be proud of your progress.

If you’re not happy with your progress, there’s a time for growth on the other side that you CAN be proud of.

Truth is, there’s a grey area in this, but i resonated on being able to say these two things when things are tough.

Today was a tough day for me for growth, there was no progress today that I set out to do at the start.

But that’s cool, I’ve got tomorrow.

And I can say I’ve done my best 👏🏻 and step up to tomorrows challenges to keep one foot moving forward.

I’m sitting here planning out the things we need to do next week at Apex as a team. I love my Sunday reviews and planning at a coffee shop! Means we stay on track.

Next week in the gym we’re entering week 3 of our internal accountability challenge! 🙌

4 Weeks left till Christmas. Meaning we’re all hands on deck making sure our members are doing what we can up to a couple weeks disruption, and STILL hitting their sessions to continue feeling great.

At this time of year it’s massively important to keep the focus on consistency. We should never strive for perfect, but at this time of year it’s super important to latch onto those awesome habits we’ve been working on, and avoid slipping back to old.

Health comes from consistent habits far, far over pure restriction. There’s enough going on at this time of year with families and social events to put tonnes of stress on nutrition.

Our job as coaches is to make sure our members keep turning up and helping them stay accountable to do that with fun challenges in the gym, some different programming coming up and prizes for being consistent! 🏆

Next week we’re also going into our 6-rep cycle of the programme, meaning that whatever we were doing last week on our main strength lifts, we’re trying to push & challenge our members that little bit more to progress - whether that’s higher weight where form allows, better form or moving with more intensity in the strength or cardio.

Most importantly we’ll be sitting down with the team first thing tomorrow to discuss our takeaways from the Summit over the weekend! 🤯

Tonnes of ideas that we’ve all taken away to help improve what we do, but the awesome thing is that they’re all small adjustments to how we currently just do things. So zero disruption to anyone! Exciting!! As a start we’re looking into more classes being added to the current timetable ASAP - watch this space 👀

We just got back from the Summit!! 👏🏻🤌🏻

Whilst my head is full and my google doc is crammed with awesome stuff…

Here’s a couple of the things forefront of mind which is definitely on deck for being weaved more into what we do…

I know Nana, Em and Mike all had their own key insights too - which aren’t here.

But I’m so happy and thankful that I can take the team to l an event like this and help develop them on their journey, whilst knowing everything we do, learn and implement ends up in impacting our clients for the better 🖤

It’s why I opened Apex.

To give impact to each person’s life who walks through that front door of the gym.

That’s the mission - to ensure that we offer that impact in a way that’s actually unique to each person, whilst making sure our environment is unwavering.

Knowing that we’re on mission, but also the possibilities of improvement ahead, are what gets me most excited.

Awesome first day of the summit with and .robinson and the team.

Some amazing insights on the owners day to take away and implement into the gym to upgrade a lot of what we do.

Just being in a room with others who are on a similar journey who can share their insights and learnings always helps massively.

You get some proper clarity in things!

It’s days like this I LOVE. To reflect, problem solve, and implement to ensure we’re always at the fore front of how we serve people.

Grateful for my team who are absolutely smashing it at being world class at doing what they do and keep making me raise my standards 🖤

Grateful for my mentors who share their knowledge and experience with me, uplift and support me 🖤

Grateful for all the ups and downs, all opportunities and lessons I’ve learnt along the way.

Dave has absolutely smashed it @ apexcoachingsale

I remember having the phone call with him in January at the start of the year… (how fast has that gone by the way!?).

He was saying how much he wants to improve his health for his son, but also for how he feels in general.

Fast forward 10 months, he’s leaner, tonnes stronger - so his form has improved massively - and he’s actually just ran a half marathon a stone lighter!!! 🤯 

He’s one of the most consistent lads I’ve met in the gym, and the 7:45am morning slot wouldn’t be the same without him. I know if he were to miss a session he’d beat himself up too, as he knows how much this impacts his day for the better after training.

Proud of you Dave 🖤 💪 Thanks for letting us help you, and thanks for all your effort this year.

It never stops surprising me how a session can flip your whole day 🙌🏼

You come in with a head full of rubbish, feeling tense, tired, overwhelmed.

Then you move your body, you sweat a bit, you breathe a bit, and suddenly everything feels more manageable.

Morning OR evening!

That’s what training is really about! Not chasing perfection. Not punishing yourself.

More giving yourself a space where you feel calmer, stronger and more in control of your life, and come out@the other side with higher energy!!

If you’ve had one of those weeks where everything feels a bit too much, this is your reminder that you don’t need to fix everything at once.

Just show up to one positive habit today. If that’s a gym session, let the session do the rest 🖤
