We're all affected by loneliness at times in our lives. We can feel lonely in a busy city or rural location, on social media or spending time on our own or with others. Try not to feel embarrassed or ashamed if you do.

Sometimes admitting we feel lonely can be hard. It’s important to remember that lots of people experience similar feelings of loneliness, and that they can pass.

Understanding our own reasons for feeling lonely can help identify and manage these feelings.

Find out about possible signs of loneliness, reasons we feel lonely and ways to manage it. There are also links to more support if you or someone else needs it ➡️nhs.uk/every-mind-matters/lifes-challenges/

This weekend, let's talk about WorkWell, Salford’s dedicated support service helping residents stay well at work and return to work after illness.

Staying well at work is vital for our residents' quality of life and for maintaining a healthy workforce across our communities.

Common issues that cause absence at work include stress, burnout, or musculoskeletal (MSK) problems such as back pain.

WorkWell, supported by Salford Health Improvement and Salford Employment Hub, can offer free support to those at risk of or those who are already off sick.

Mums, parents… some great tips to keep kids safe while playing outdoors 🙌

02/08/2025

From sun safe tips to fun ways to keep hydrated, this weekend we're serving up simple summer tips to help you stay healthy while enjoying the sunshine ;)

Being sun smart is about looking after your skin all summer, not just during heatwaves or when you’re on holiday. If you’re watching (or playing) sport outdoors, follow these safety tips to protect your skin:

🌳 spend time in the shade between 11am and 3pm
👒 make sure you never burn
☀️ cover up with suitable clothing and sunglasses
😎 take extra care with children
🧴 Use a ‘high protection’ sunscreen of at least SPF 30 which also has high UVA protection

And remember, older residents face increased risks during hot weather, so:

🧊 Close curtains and doors to keep homes cool
💧 Keep hydrated and eat well
💊 Store health essentials away from heat
💙 Ask a local pharmacist about summer-specific supplements or remedies

Keep the NHS 111 number handy for non-emergency advice
