Where do I start with this case…
This wonderful lady walked into my surgery back in July 2022. I had treated her lovely daughter with Invisalign and whitening, and she was looking for an improvement to her own smile.
Her teeth had been affected by something called Tetracyline staining, which can affect the aesthetics of teeth when they are forming as a child. This had led to her having a lot less confidence when smiling. We discussed how to get the improvement in aesthetics we would really need to use porcelain veneers. After long discussions I explained that to make the preparations as minimally invasive as possible it would be best to straighten the teeth into a more ideal position first.
We embarked on treatment to move the teeth. I could not have asked for a more compliant patient. We then whitened the teeth , knowing we wouldn’t be able to get fully rid of the banding lines in the teeth, we then placed porcelain veneers to provide a uniform colour and shape to the teeth.
We still have a way to go before we fully finish the smile. The plan is to replace some teeth with dental implants in the future and place veneers on the lower teeth to cover the tetracyline banding. The process is a marathon not a sprint.
This patient has been a ray of sunshine in my surgery through some of my hardest days. We’ve chatted all about our families and she always brings a smile to my face. Thank you for everything Julie. You really are one in a million 💖
