☀️ Vitamin D – important for your health this winter
From October to March, sunlight in the UK isn’t strong enough for our bodies to make enough vitamin D. To stay healthy, the NHS recommends taking a daily 10 microgram (400 IU) vitamin D supplement during these months.
💪 Why vitamin D matters:
Helps keep bones and teeth strong
Supports muscle strength and reduces the risk of falls
Plays a role in a healthy immune system
Helps prevent conditions such as rickets in children and osteomalacia in adults
🥛 Vitamin D is found in small amounts in foods like oily fish, eggs, and fortified products, but most people won’t get enough from diet alone, which is why supplements are recommended.
🛒 Vitamin D supplements are widely available from pharmacies and supermarkets. Avoid taking more than 100 micrograms a day unless advised by a healthcare professional.
