A slow start to the year… 😌

I actually don’t have a lot to recap from January because I intentionally took it easy.

I’ve been dipping in and out of nesting mode and slowing things down slightly in the clinic so I can continue to deliver my best and not compromise on being fully present for my clients.

There was a lovely little Barcelona babymoon, a start on preparing for the newest addition to the clan, and I even got to a city game which I’ve really missed considering how much I used to go

A quiet month but on purpose 🫶🏼

Ready to fall in love with your skin again?

Microneedling is a non-negotiable and I’ll die on that hill.

It forms part of almost all long-term skin journeys I go on with clients, when it makes sense for their skin, and for very good reason.

Owning a business is hard… but it’s also something I’m deeply proud of.

The Contour Clinic turns 7 next month, and after a decade in this industry, it felt right to use this trend to give my journey some airtime.

My life has grown alongside this clinic.
Both have shaped me personally and professionally and they’ve always moved hand in hand.

Over the past 7 years I’ve built and I’m still building a business.
I’ve been raising a human who is somehow now 5.
I got married and managed to stay married.
I’m now growing another human who’ll be here very soon.
And through every stage, The Contour Clinic has evolved with me.

What started as a body sculpting clinic, at a time when body sculpting was still emerging, is now a clinic offering advanced, medical grade, results-led treatments, built on that same considered approach.

That experience has naturally led me to start supporting other solo clinic owners, using what I’ve learned over the years.

Growth looks different at every stage and what’s to come might be my favourite yet 🥺🫶🏼

Microneedling doesn’t need to bleed everywhere to be effective.

Most of the time, redness is the key response I’m looking for. It tells me the skin has switched into repair mode and collagen stimulation has begun.

Only when I’m treating a specific concern would pinpoint bleeding be the intended end point.

You may sometimes see light pinpoint bleeding in certain areas.
That doesn’t mean the rest of the face hasn’t been treated. It simply reflects differences in skin thickness and vascularity across the face.

Every area responds differently.
Every face is treated differently.

The goal is stimulation, not trauma. That’s how we achieve results without compromising the skin barrier.

Microneedling is only performed following a consultation (or when I already know your skin well), so I can be sure it’s the right treatment, carried out safely and effectively.

LED after microneedling?

NIR sometimes… red light NEVER.
Let’s unpick why I’m so specific 👇🏼

Microneedling relies on a controlled healing response. Anything that overheats or overstimulates the skin too soon can work against your collagen which is why I never use red LED immediately after needling.

Red light can:
Add unwanted heat
Push cellular activity too fast
Disrupt collagen-remodelling
Increase inflammation instead of calming it

Great treatment, wrong timing.

So what do I MIGHT use instead?

The only LED I ever consider post needling is NIR (near-infrared) and only if your skin genuinely needs that extra calming support.

I may choose NIR when:
Inflammation is higher than expected
The skin is naturally reactive or sensitive
A large area has been treated
You typically stay red for longer

If your skin doesn’t need LED, I don’t use it. Simple.

Different practitioners do different things

My approach follows:
Advanced microneedling training
clinical guidelines
safety protocols

It’s not about adding more steps just for the sake of it it’s about protecting the healing phase that creates results because that’s what you pay me for!

And finally…

If clinical protocols evolve and future research supports LED immediately post microneedling, then my approach will evolve with it.
But for now, based on the current evidence, it’s usually no LED post microneedling unless your skin benefits from NIR.

We’re on a full face rejuvenation journey ☺️

Every treatment plan I put together has a reason behind it. It’s never random or about “everything all at once.” I stack and sequence treatments in a way that gives the skin the best chance to respond and improve.

This client wanted lift and a fresher overall look, so we started with HIFU for structure and support, then added a targeted skin booster to enhance texture and hydration. Even at this stage, only 4 weeks into her plan, the lift and smoothness are already noticeable.

She had morpheus8 elsewhere in the past but didn’t find it comfortable or particularly effective for her. My approach after her consultation was to tailor treatments that felt right for where her skin was at now whilst also providing long lasting, low maintenance results.

With ipl, microneedling and under-eye polynucleotides still to come (and hifu working in the background), we’re only partway through her journey… but the strategy is already paying off.
