Did you know that at the Dry Eyes Clinic, we use the Optilight - the newest and best IPL technology - to treat your dry eyes (among other treatments).

Once IPL has been identified as appropriate at your initial consultation, you'll have an initial course of four sessions, followed by six-monthly maintenance treatments.

Every session is performed by Mr Yodaiken himself and accompanied by meibomian gland expression and a mini review. Upper lids are treated as well for maximum benefit.

Best of all, we've reviewed our pricing and are delighted to say that maintenance IPL sessions and review will no longer be subject to a consultation fee - you'll get a full review included in the IPL cost.
That should brighten some eyes! 🤩

We've had a few enquiries about serum tears this week. Autologous serum tears are eye drops made from your own blood serum. They have been shown to help dry eye symptoms and improve the health of the eye surface. You have blood drawn at one of the national centres and the drops are created for you. There is a waiting list and production also takes time, so expect it to be a few months until the serum tears are available.

As they are only produced by the NHS Blood & Transplant service, the easiest way to get them is by prescription from an NHS Ophthalmologist. You can get them privately from NHSBT too, but the process is no faster and it costs £1477 + VAT every three months.

While waiting, an alternative is fingerprick autologous blood (FAB), which studies have found to be equally effective. With this method, you prick your (cleaned) finger and apply a drop of blood to the lower fornix of the affected eye several times a day.

You can read a summary of one of the studies at https://journals.lww.com/corneajrnl/abstract/2021/09000/fingerprick_autologous_blood_in_the_treatment_of.8.aspx #:~:text=Use%20of%20autologous%20serum%20is,a%20select%20group%20of%20patients..

Our Story

Dry Eyes Clinic focuses on helping people like you alleviate gritty and tired eyes. We are proud to be one of the only clinics in the world that is 100% devoted to dry eye care. We provide expert advice and treatment based on years of research and experience.

Dry Eyes Clinic specialises in the treatment of Blepharitis & MGD which are progressive conditions and are not readily cured. Using a revolutionary technology called Lipiflow, we are achieving outstanding results. 79% of patients report improvement in their symptoms within four weeks. The treatment is performed in a consultation room and in some cases, on the same day as their evaluation.

In mild cases of MGD the use of a heated eye pad may help delay the progress of the disease.
