Stefania is one of our teachers:
Yoga can mean different things to all of us. We experience it in our own unique way and even so, it can bring us together.
The philosophy and the practice has made my internal conversations kinder and calmer. Over time, I’ve taught myself how to objectively observe my body and my mind. It has given me tools and new perspectives on how to interact with my surroundings and with that, also a greater acceptance for how different we all are.

Looking forward to spending a sunny weekend together with you on Högmarsö.

"Never tried yin yoga? It consists of simple positions performed seated or lying down on the floor, where we stretch and hydrate the fascia (tissues) surrounding our muscles, ligaments, and tendons. This enables the body to become more flexible and supports your joints, which in turn facilitates the healing process when injured.

Yin yoga had been an important complement to more dynamic training when a back injury in 2017 opened my in eyes to the real potential of yin yoga as a rehab superpower. The experience made me realise that I want to share the effects of yin yoga with others. In 2020 I began my formal teacher trainings and met my amazing teacher and mentor to be Sofie Ringsten. Around this time I also met Madeleine, Lotta and Stefania during a 200h teacher training in Hatha yoga, and here we are organising our second yoga retreat together 🧘🏻‍♀️

A part of yin yoga is strongly associated with the energy channels used e.g. in acupuncture. According to Chinese philosophy, our body and its different organs need extra support depending on the season. During the yin yoga classes at Högmarsö we will focus on the spring and the upcoming summer, in order to offer balance and harmony in mind and body 🌱🌷☀️ I look forward to sharing this and much more with you in May!"

When growing up, I trained a lot but never competitively and when I went to my first Yoga class at 16, I felt that Yoga had more to offer than other sports. For me Yoga is getting in touch with your true self, becoming stronger from the inside and calming your mind.
Over the years I have completed over 250 hours of Yoga teacher training at Yogayama in Stockholm and have also a broad foundation from ‘the Academy’, one of Sweden’s most reputable vocational training centres in exercise and health. In unison with being a trained ‘Health Initiation Leader’ and a Yoga PT.
I appreciate participating in more traditional Yoga classes for myself, with mantras and pranayama. However, when I teach Yoga I start with pure asanas/poses to enable everyone to ease in to Yoga and make it more accessible from the outset.
Hatha Yoga is usually the basis of my classes and I place great emphasis adapting my teaching to who the individual and the group in front of me are. I guide a lot with descriptive words and how the body should be positioned. In recent years I also like there to be a flow between the movements, hence Vinyasa Yoga comes in more and more to my classes.
I value mental training, Yoga and holistic thinking and look forward to sharing my knowledge with you at the MixedBagYoga weekend at Högmarsö.

I would like to introduce my new venture 'MixedBagYoga' retreats in Sweden. www.mixedbagyoga.com . Follow my three co Yoga teachers here on Lotta'Studio page. First out with an introduction is me. ;-)

Over the years I have found that Yoga has so much to offer. For many people today yoga is just another way of exercising, which is very different from when it started approximately over 5000 years ago in India. For me, especially as I get older, the aim of being flexible, fit, calm and happy are the over-riding goals.

My story started back in 2003 when my then personal trainer, Martin, said he thought I would be great helping people to get into fitness. So, when I sold the sign-manufacturing company I had established and run for nearly 20 years, I decided to start a Gym and Pilates studio. Before that I had taken part in many types of fitness and exercise training as well as Yoga and running since I was in my 20’s. For me exercise has never been a competitive activity, as I like training to be fun and flexible.

I have chosen a slightly different path in helping you on your journey into Yoga. Body and mind go together hence mental fitness is also imperative. I aim to help you to achieve mental strength, flexibility and fitness by teaching you ‘MixedBag’, which is my unique mixture of Yoga, Pilates, core strength training and breathing for relaxation. I believe that I have created a routine that is suitable for everyone of all ages and ability. I borrow from all the disciplines I have studied together with my latest find – Shinrin yoko (forest bathing). Do not worry! We are not walking around naked in the Swedish forest. It is simply practicing enjoying the outdoors with all our senses.

I met my three wonderful MixedBagYoga companions Kat, Madeleine and Stefanie, while we were all studying to be Yoga teachers, and we agreed to work together to set up weekend retreats in the Roslagen archipelago near Stockholm.
Do join us for a relaxing, invigorating weekend!

Hope 2020 has started well for you.
I just read this article in the British Psychological Society’s Research Digest regarding how important for success planning is, which I would like to share with you as it is important for all of us in life.

https://digest.bps.org.uk/2019/09/24/your-level-of-planfulness-could-determine-how-often-you-visit-the-gym/

It goes hand in hand with when you set SMART goals with your client as a personal trainer or indeed life in general:
Specific-Measureable-Achievable-Realistic-Timely.
Today I like to introduce Ann Hooper-Smith who has been teaching here since we started in the gym with classes. Her class is friendly and sociable class for people who have participated in some Pilates previously.

Ann is passionate about the benefits of Pilates and says “it should be a part of everyone’s exercise regime because it works!”
To give you a ‘carrot’ to plan for next week:
Come and try Ann’s class for free on Thursday 23 January at 09:00 by emailing classes@lottastudio.co.uk to book your free Thursday trial Pilates.

Good luck with your planning for a more active life.
