People often have various worries or concerns when considering meditation. These concerns can sometimes act as barriers to starting a meditation practice. Here are some common worries and misconceptions people may have about meditation:

5. Feeling Bored or Restless: Sitting quietly and doing nothing may sound boring or unproductive to some. They worry they won't be able to sit still without getting restless.

It's important to address these worries and concerns with understanding and patience. Meditation is a skill that takes time to develop, and it's natural to have doubts or challenges along the way. Here are some tips for addressing these concerns:

· Start Small: Begin with short meditation sessions, even just a few minutes, and gradually increase the duration as you become more comfortable.

· Guided Meditation: Consider using guided meditation apps or recordings, especially as a beginner. They provide structure and guidance.

· Accept Thoughts: Understand that it's normal for thoughts to arise during meditation. Instead of resisting them, practice gently acknowledging them and returning to your point of focus (e.g., your breath).

· Variety of Techniques: Explore different meditation techniques to find one that resonates with you. There are many styles, including mindfulness, loving-kindness, body scan, and more.

· Self-Compassion: Be kind and patient with yourself. It's okay to have doubts and setbacks in your meditation practice. Progress often comes in stages.

· Professional Guidance: If you have specific concerns related to emotions or mental health, consider seeking guidance from a mental health professional who is experienced in meditation and mindfulness.

Remember that meditation is a personal journey, and there's no one "right" way to do it. The most important thing is to start and continue, as consistency can lead to the many benefits of a regular meditation practice.

In a world that rewards constant doing, resting can feel rebellious. But your body isn’t lazy for needing rest — it’s wise.

During a soundbath, every tone and vibration gives your body permission to pause, your mind space to slow, and your nervous system a moment to reset.

One person said, “I didn’t realise how exhausted I was until I stopped. I left feeling human again.” You don’t have to earn rest. You simply need to allow it.

People often say to me they would love to feel calmer, more relaxed and switch off for a little while. Next Friday 7.15pm we have our candlelit relaxing soundbath. The perfect way to take some time out for you, relax and unwind.

Soundbaths are also a great way to get into meditation if you struggle to stop thoughts or find it challenging. The combination of the sounds and vibrations particularly help people to switch off to feel more calm and relaxed.

Come and join us for our relaxing soundbath session where we can enjoy being in a beautifully converted church with underfloor heating!

Experience listening to the sound and vibrations of our singing bowls. Soundbaths are a great way to switch off, calm the mind and feel relaxed, people often say to me they sleep well afterwards as well.

People often have various worries or concerns when considering meditation. These concerns can sometimes act as barriers to starting a meditation practice. Here are some common worries and misconceptions people may have about meditation:

3. Physical discomfort: Sitting in a certain posture for an extended period can be uncomfortable for some, leading to concerns about physical discomfort or pain during meditation. For beginners we recommend starting sitting comfortably in a chair.
