I made her cry… happy tears of course!
Giving the joy of a beautiful smile in one day makes me proud of the work I’m doing.

This lady had a denture but the remaining teeth were failing and infected.
The treatment plan included removing the failing teeth, immediate implant placement and temporary teeth.
All done in one day.

Smiles and tears all around makes it all worth it.

Why dentistry? When I was about 16 and I realised I had to start making some serious decisions about my future, I decided to go for an aptitude test. These are done by psychologists who provide an evaluation and advice on which career path might be most suitable for you. My results came back saying that I would be well suited to a medical profession. So I then went off and shadowed people in different areas of the medical profession including surgeons, dentists, orthodontists, facial surgeons.. I even experienced watching twins being born! I really enjoyed the different experiences, but the answer to one question I asked all of the professionals surprised me. I asked everyone, if they could turn back time, would they do the same thing again... and every one of them said no apart from the orthodontists. Given that I had really enjoyed the experience, and these professionals obviously enjoyed what they were doing, this is what I decided to do.. and I haven’t looked back since!

The month of February is officially Children’s Dental Health Month. It is so important to make sure your children learn good dental care at a young age so they know how to look after their teeth as they grow up. Dentalcare.co.uk have got some fab resources on offer at the moment which could even give you something to do during lockdown. Maybe even consider it home schooling?

Hi everyone, I’m AJ.

I haven’t been particularly active on social media before so a New Year’s resolution is to change that. I thought I would start by introducing myself.

I am a dentist and I place and restore dental implants here in Salisbury, UK. My surgery is a reassuring place where my patients and I laugh together a lot. I use the most gentle, skilful techniques to minimise any discomfort, and my patients soon find that the procedure is free from pain and nothing to worry about.

Seeing people that have difficulty in eating properly and not smiling with confidence because of loose dentures or failing bridges really breaks my heart. Dental Implant treatment makes such a big difference in people’s lives and it is truly amazing being able to transform someone from being embarrassed and shy to beaming with joy, happiness and life!

I moved here from South Africa a couple of years ago with my wife Roxi and our 2 children and we absolutely love it here. We spend a lot of our free time exploring the local area.
