My eldest was born just over eight weeks early, he'll be turning eight in a week or two when he should be turning eight in late January.

His birth and our experience kickstarted the most wonderful volunteering path and career change, but it wasn't easy and I still think about it a lot.

We're all so different, so if you're going through this, I can't say I know exactly how you feel. There's no 'right' way to feel about your baby coming before they (or you) are quite ready - just know I'm here for you if you need support :)

Today is World Prematurity Day and Bliss wants all families to know that we’re 💙

Around 60,000 babies are born prematurely in the UK every year. Each neonatal experience will affect families differently, but we know how difficult it can be for parents who have to leave or be apart from their baby. This is a reality many families face when their baby is born premature or sick.

We are so that you can be by your baby’s side.

I'm afraid despite my best efforts, my email is still causing me terrible issues. I am able to send emails, but it seems like some of them are going missing on the way to you, and I'm not receiving all my emails either (I check junk mail religiously!)

I am looking for an alternative provider and am in the process of setting up a business number for WhatsApp contact. In the meantime you can message me on here if you are not seeing email replies from me. Sorry for the inconvenience.

I have been trying for most of this week to resolve an issue with email storage meaning that I cannot send or receive emails. I can only apologise for the inconvenience, I will update as soon as I have this sorted out.

The Southampton Donor Milk Bank at UHS has launched an appeal for donors as milk reserves are running low.

Donated breast milk helps to protect sick babies from blood infections and necrotising enterocolitis (NEC), a serious intestinal disease that affects premature or very low birth weight infants. It also improves digestion of milk in babies who have had tummy surgery.

New mum, Jennifer Blandford, 37, from Calmore, has been both a recipient of donor milk as well as an active donor. On January 6 her son, Teddy Blandford, was born premature at 32 weeks and needed donor milk.

Jennifer said “Teddy had to receive donor milk after his birth, whilst we waited for my milk to come in. Once I started feeding, I was producing a lot of excess milk - I didn’t actually realise how much I had until Tania showed me.

“We were so thankful that Teddy had someone else’s milk for those first few days, it just made sense to pass it on and also seemed the right thing to do”.

Hi there :) I'm always very aware I don't often update this page, I'm usually busy supporting families, either through work or volunteering, or running after my own three children with the occasional dash of allotmenting here and there.

Recently I've been on maternity leave, but I'm now very pleased to be able to offer my IBCLC services once again alongside the wonderful support available here in Salisbury. With years of experience supporting families antenatally and postnatally with feeding concerns, learning and study, and my own personal feeding journeys, I have fresh and clear memories of what those newborn days are like and am here if you need to chat about how things are going!

I'm always a bit embarrassed when I'm self-promoting, another reason this page is quiet(!), but I'm very proud that IBCLCs are generally considered to be the 'gold standard' in feeding support, and I continue to keep my knowledge up to date, out of necessity, but also out of a huge passion that families deserve the best, evidence-based support available.

Wherever you are in your infant feeding journey, whatever it looks like, and wherever you want to be - I'd love to help you and your family. I can offer home visits, phone calls, and virtual consults for antenatal preparation, reassurance, and support for more complex feeding journeys. I also offer small in-person or virtual workshops for groups for common topics like starting solids, preparing to or stopping breastfeeding, going back to work.

Take a peek at my website to see how an IBCLC can help you and your family as you work together on your feeding journey 🙂

GIFT VOUCHERS

Unlike me, you're probably all ready to go for Christmas gifts, but a little reminder that I do offer gift vouchers :) These can be a great gift for antenatal parents or even those with older children who need a bit of love and support.

They can be used on any of the services I offer, and I'm also very happy for vouchers under one name to be combined. They come in a digital format, but you can print them at home if you'd like to.

If you'd like to hear more, view the full terms and conditions, and order, please message me on this page or through my website :)

Image - an example graphic of my vouchers. It is a light green square with white and green border with my logo in white, a voucher amount in large text, and a name, expiry date and voucher code in smaller text at the bottom.

ONLINE BOOKING

Over the year, I've seen more families wanting consultations, both virtual and home, and sometimes these can require some back and forth via email and use up quite a bit of your time, which if you've got a baby to look after is precious enough already!

So I'm really pleased to have been able to put together an online booking system for you where you can book virtual and home consults (within 15 miles of Salisbury) with me in a more time-friendly fashion. I will always personally confirm the appointment when you complete booking and am always happy to answer any questions you might have.

If you prefer to have a chat to arrange your consultation, you're looking for a follow up consult, or if you live more than 15 miles from Salisbury, please email me or use the contact form on my website.

Booking link will be in the comments. Thanks for all your support this year, I've felt very lucky to work with so many amazing families :)
