Test Results - what do they mean?

We often receive queries from patients who have received their test results on the NHS app and are concerned what the results mean.
We have updated our test results page with additional information which I hope will be useful:

https://practice365.co.uk/j83003/health-information/test-results/

We do not normally contact patients with normal results; if your results need further action we will be in touch.

Join our Patient Participation Group (PPG)

Please email harcourt.surgery@nhs.net expressing your interest and we will be pleased to invite you to our next meeting.

What is the Patient Participation Group or PPG?

A Patient Participation Group (PPG) is a group of people who are patients of the surgery and want to help it work as well as it can for patients, doctors and staff.

Who are we looking for?

Any registered patient who is keen to help us improve services and engagement with our patients. We are keen to have people join from all age groups and backgrounds; we want a broad range of voices, representative of our local community.

Why should I join?

You have been to the surgery as a patient, parent, carer or friend.

Your experiences matter and you can bring different ideas to the surgery to help us treat patients better or to improve what we do in some way.

You will also gain a better understanding of the NHS, and gather feedback from other patients.

How often does the Patient Participation Group meet?

We meet, but not too often, with one of the GPs usually chairing the meeting. If you can’t make meetings then don’t worry – you can still be part of our virtual group.

Who manages the mailing list for the PPG?

The mailing list will be securely held by the GP surgery and any emails sent so that individual’s emails are not shared with others.

Weight Loss Medications and NHS prescribing

As many people are aware, there is increasing use of the newer weight loss medications known as GLP-1 agonists.

Many patients are obtaining these privately through providers such as Boots, Superdrug and other online retailers and then requesting we take over prescribing of these medications once they have proven effective due to the costs involved.

As an NHS practice we must adhere to the prescribing indicators in the area – which is currently NOT to prescribe on the NHS.

In summary:

Critically we cannot prescribe Saxenda or Wegovy as these are restricted to prescribing in secondary care by a specialist MDT tier 3 weight management service

Mounjaro and the other GLP1s for managing overweight and obesity is non-formulary while NICE appraisal for this indication is in development:

https://www.nice.org.uk/guidance/indevelopment/gid-ta11156

We await the NICE guidelines in development and will update our prescribing practice in due course but for now – PLEASE DO NOT ASK US TO PRESCRIBE THESE MEDICATIONS FOR WEIGHT LOSS
