✨ You can’t force labour. And that’s actually the magic. ✨

Labour doesn’t start because of dates, pressure, or doing all the things.
It begins when baby is ready.

In those final weeks, your baby releases a protein (surfactant) from their lungs — a quiet signal to your body that says “I’m ready now.”
Only then does the hormonal cascade begin.

And here’s the other key piece 👇
Labour unfolds best when mum feels safe, supported, and unobserved.
When everything aligns — physically, hormonally, emotionally — labour begins.

Trying to override this beautifully balanced physiology often leads to…
➡️ stalled labour
➡️ unnecessary intervention
➡️ a cascade your body never actually needed

So instead of forcing, think encouraging 💛

🌿 Gentle ways to support labour naturally:
• Kerb walking / gentle asymmetrical movement
• Slow walks, swaying, stair climbing
• Warm baths or showers
• Deep rest (yes, really)
• Laughter, connection, intimacy
• Ni**le stimulation
• Feeling safe, private, and unrushed
• Doing things that boost oxytocin — the hormone of love, safety & birth

✨ Old wives’ tales exist for a reason… most of them are just oxytocin in disguise.

Your body isn’t broken.
Your baby knows when they’re ready.
Trust the timing. Trust the process.

🔥 You don’t start labour — you allow it.

✨ NOT ONE TO BE MISSED ✨

If you’re hoping for a hands-off, low-intervention birth — or you simply want to feel calm, informed and confident navigating whatever your birth brings — this Birth Masterclass is for you (and your birth partner).

This isn’t about rigid birth plans or “doing it perfectly”.
It’s about understanding birth together so you feel supported, steady and aligned as a team.

It’s about:
• Understanding what normal, physiological birth actually looks like
• Knowing when intervention is helpful — and when it isn’t
• Giving birth partners the knowledge and confidence to truly support, not feel helpless or sidelined
• Feeling confident to ask questions, make decisions, and advocate — as a unit
• Walking into birth feeling grounded, prepared and empowered, whatever unfolds

📍 Brigmerston & Milston Village Hall
(Near Durrington / Bulford)
🗓 Saturday 21st February
⏰ 09:30

This is a deep-dive, jam-packed session that consistently leaves parents saying, “I wish we’d done this sooner.”

If birth is approaching and you want to go in feeling steady, informed and in control — together… this is your sign.

Many of you probably know that alongside Wild Embers, I’m also the Engagement Lead for BSW Maternity & Neonatal Voices. We’re a small NHS-linked organisation that listens to feedback from families and works with local maternity services to turn that feedback into positive, practical changes 💛

I’m currently working on a couple of projects and would really love your help. I’ve put together two short surveys focused on improving experiences on the postnatal ward — one about baby-care sessions and one about a postnatal ward guide I’m developing.

I’ll only be keeping the surveys open for a week, so if you’re able to take a few minutes to complete them, I’d be incredibly grateful.

If you have any other feedback you’d like to share about your experience at Salisbury, Bath (RUH), or Swindon (GWH), please visit our website. There are several different surveys available depending on what you’d like to comment on:

Thank you so much for helping us improve maternity and postnatal care ✨

🌿 Wild Wander Postponed 🌿

With the storm hitting overnight and into tomorrow morning, I’m postponing tomorrow’s Wild Wander to keep everyone safe and avoid any last-minute cancellations.

Normally, I’d invite you all for a cozy coffee morning instead, but the hall will be freezing and Brigmerston can be tricky to reach in bad weather.

The Wild Wander will now take place on Friday 23rd — fingers crossed for better weather! 🤞

Thanks so much for your understanding.

Stay safe and cosy, friends! 💚✨

Sharing to spread a bit of awareness about this truly wonderful charity ✨

I first learned about Lia’s Wings while doing some MNVP engagement, after they supported a local family by bringing their baby home following a premature birth while the family were on holiday in Greece.

Then, just a couple of months later, life came full circle. One of my pregnancy yoga mums messaged me in a panic — she was on holiday in Greece and her waters had gone at just 30 weeks. Thankfully, I was able to point her straight towards Lia’s Wings, who were instrumental in supporting the transfer of their 34-week baby back home to Salisbury NICU.

I had no idea a charity like this even existed — and now I’m so incredibly grateful that it does 💛

Merry Christmas from Wild Embers 🤍

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for all the support you’ve shown Wild Embers this year. It’s been such a privilege to walk alongside so many families — supporting you through pregnancy, welcoming new babies, and holding space through postpartum and beyond. Meeting your little ones and being part of these chapters never stops feeling special.

As we move into Christmas, a gentle reminder that it can be exactly what you make it. Try not to get too caught up in the noise, the pressure to be everywhere, or the feeling that you need to buy and do more. Being at home together, resting, and simply being is more than enough — especially for those of you with tiny humans in your arms.

Be kind to yourself. Be gentle with yourself. Do what feels right for you and your family.

Wishing you a calm, cosy and love-filled Christmas ✨
