🐑🏁 We’ve seen it all now… a racecourse for sheep!

Our latest trip to Finkley Down Farm had a surprise in store - sheep racing! And let’s just say, the competition was baa-rilliant! 😄

Residents had a wonderful day out enjoying the fresh air, friendly animals and a few unexpected laughs along the way. It’s not every day you get to cheer on a flock at the finish line!

A fantastic outing filled with fun, conversation and plenty of memorable moments.

🐴Happy Hooves at Care UK Salisbury Manor!

Our residents were delighted to welcome a gentle pony indoors, thanks to Happy Hooves, whose visits are thoughtfully designed to support wellbeing through meaningful animal interaction.

There were smiles all round as residents enjoyed getting up close with plenty of strokes, cuddles and special moments shared. These visits are more than just enjoyable; they are purposeful, helping to promote calm, encourage engagement and spark conversation.

Such an uplifting experience for everyone involved.

A fantastic afternoon at our monthly Veterans’ Club at Care UK Salisbury Manor this week

It was brilliant to see such strong support from our local Armed Forces community, including representatives from Help for Heroes, Boscombe Down, and the Royal British Legion, alongside some very special visitors… including Rosie the dog, who was (unsurprisingly!) a firm favourite 🐾

These monthly gatherings are a key part of our commitment to the Veteran Friendly Framework (VFF) creating opportunities for veterans to stay connected, reduce social isolation, and share their stories in a space where they feel understood and valued.

It’s incredibly important to us that our residents, and veterans within our wider community, continue to feel recognised, supported, and part of something meaningful.

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us and continues to support this initiative. We’re already looking forward to next month.

☀️🌷🫧 It’s the simple things that bring the greatest joy

A moment in the sunshine with eyes closed… the scent of a fresh tulip… bubbles floating through the garden air.

These quiet moments invite us to pause, connect with our surroundings and enjoy a sense of peace and contentment. It’s in these little experiences that smiles appear naturally and memories are gently made.

At Salisbury Manor, we celebrate these everyday moments. Because sometimes, it really is the simplest things that mean the most. 💛

💙🧠 The importance of being a Dementia Friend

Dementia touches more lives than many people realise. In the UK alone, around 1 million people are living with dementia, and this number is expected to rise to 1.4 million by 2040.

But the impact goes far beyond the individual. Families, friends and carers are all affected. One in three people will care for someone with dementia during their lifetime, and more than half of us know someone living with the condition.

Becoming a Dementia Friend is about understanding, recognising the challenges people may face, showing patience, and offering support in everyday moments. Small actions, whether it’s a kind word, a helping hand or simply taking the time to listen, can make a huge difference.

At Care UK Salisbury Manor, we see every day how awareness, compassion and connection can improve quality of life. Creating dementia-friendly environments and communities helps people feel safe, valued and included.

Because dementia isn’t just a health condition, it’s a shared human experience that calls for empathy, understanding and support from us all.

Become a Dementia Friend. Learn more about what it is like to live with dementia and turn that understanding into action.

🧶☕💬 Knit, natter and a cuppa at Care UK Salisbury Manor

Our regular catch-up with the Crafty Girls is always a highlight, bringing residents together for knitting, conversation and, of course, a well-earned cup of tea.

Knitting is such a meaningful activity. The gentle, repetitive motion can be incredibly calming, helping to reduce anxiety and promote relaxation. It also supports fine motor skills, concentration and a sense of purpose, especially when working towards something tangible.

Just as importantly, the social side brings people together, encouraging conversation, laughter and connection. These shared moments help build friendships and create a real sense of community.

A simple combination of creativity, companionship and a cuppa… sometimes that’s all you need. 💛

🎨🥦 Getting creative in unexpected ways at Salisbury Manor!

Who knew broccoli could make such beautiful art!!

Our residents had great fun experimenting with painting using broccoli, creating unique patterns and colourful designs.

Activities like this are more than just creative they form an important part of art therapy. Using different textures and techniques can help stimulate the senses, encourage self-expression and support cognitive engagement, particularly for those living with dementia.

Art therapy also promotes relaxation, reduces anxiety and provides a wonderful sense of achievement.

A little creativity, a lot of smiles, and proof that inspiration can come from anywhere! 💚

🧶💛 From knit one, purl one… to something truly special

Our wonderful Crafty Girls of Salisbury, UK have been supporting residents at Salisbury Manor with regular knitting sessions, creating square by square over the past few months.

Those individual pieces have now been carefully brought together to form beautiful blankets - each one made with time, care and kindness.

We’re delighted that these blankets have now been donated to the maternity unit at Salisbury Hospital, offering comfort to new mums and babies. 👶💛

A lovely example of community, creativity and giving back , proving that small stitches can make a big difference.

🌿 Reflecting on a personal and meaningful farewell at Salisbury Manor 🌿

The nature of life within a care home means that saying goodbye is something we experience, and each time it is deeply personal. Every resident becomes part of our community, our daily lives and our hearts.

Recently, we said farewell to one of our veterans, who passed very peacefully. We were truly grateful to have the support and comfort of Padre Mark Christian, whose presence brought reassurance not only to our resident, but also to their loved ones and the team around them.

Moments like these remind us of the importance of dignity, compassion and being surrounded by care at the end of life. It is a privilege to support individuals through their final journey, offering comfort, respect and kindness every step of the way.

Loss is always felt deeply, not only by families but also by the staff who have built meaningful relationships and shared in everyday moments. We take time to reflect, to support one another, and to honour the lives and memories of those we have cared for.

Our thoughts remain with the family. 💛
