💜🌿 Engaging the senses at Care UK, Salisbury Manor 🌿💜

We were delighted to welcome Tara Goddard back from Fabric Sewn Beautiful for another wonderful session, bringing the calming scent of lavender and a hands-on sensory experience for our residents to enjoy.

Each visit offers something special - an opportunity to slow down, connect and engage in a way that feel natural and comforting. Activities like these can help to focus attention, encourage interaction and provide a gentle sense of routine.

For many residents, particularly those living with dementia, sensory engagement can be incredibly grounding - supporting emotional wellbeing and creating moments of calm and familiarity.

At Salisbury Manor, we continue to embrace meaningful experiences that enrich daily life, support individual wellbeing and help our residents live full and fulfilling lives. 💜

There’s something truly special about bringing people together who just get it.

Our next Veterans’ Club at Care UK, Salisbury Manor Care Home takes place on Tuesday 24th March, 2.30pm – 4.00pm, and we’d love to welcome members of our local Armed Forces community.

This is more than just a get-together - it’s a chance to reconnect with your ‘tribe’. To share stories, memories, and moments with others who understand the experiences, the humour, and the unspoken bonds that come with service life. The room is always filled with camaraderie, warmth, and genuine connection.

Whether you served years ago or more recently, you’ll find a friendly face, a listening ear, and a relaxed afternoon waiting for you (alongside a traditional ploughman’s).

If you’d like to join us, or reserve a place for yourself or someone else, please get in touch:
📧 jennifer.ettimari@careuk.com ~ telephone 01722 567645

Please do share this with fellow veterans or anyone connected to the Armed Forces who may enjoy being part of something special.

Our Creme Egg collection for children in Salisbury has started and we’ve already had some lovely donations — thank you!

But we still have plenty of room in the basket and would love your help to fill it.

Spring is in the air at Care UK, Salisbury Manor

Our residents have been embracing the season through creativity, producing some beautiful paintings of bright yellow daffodils. Art sessions like these are always a highlight, offering a chance to relax, express creativity and enjoy the colours of spring together.

Creative activities can be particularly beneficial for those living with dementia. Art therapy provides a gentle and meaningful way to communicate feelings and memories when words may be harder to find. Painting can also help reduce anxiety, improve mood and support cognitive engagement, while offering a sense of achievement and pride in creating something personal.

At Salisbury Manor, we believe activities like this are an important part of supporting wellbeing and enriching everyday life.

Navigating difficult conversations

Some days are harder to navigate, and conversations with a loved one living with dementia can feel especially challenging. In fact, 43% of people surveyed said repeating themselves was the hardest part.

As part of our Big Dementia Conversation campaign, we’ve created videos to help support you through those more difficult moments.

🌼☀️ Enjoying the little things at Salisbury Manor

With blue skies above and the first signs of spring in the garden, one of our residents took a moment to enjoy some fresh air and sunshine — even picking a bright yellow daffodil along the way.

Spending time outdoors can really make a difference!. Even a short time in the garden can bring a sense of calm and connection with the seasons.

Sometimes it really is the little things that make the biggest difference. 💛
