On World Cancer Day we're raising awareness of eye cancer.

Cancer may affect the eyelids, the area surrounding the eyes, the surface of the eyes as well as inside. Intraocular melanoma actually ranks amongst the deadliest of all tumors.

Recognising warning signs like unusual growth or rapid visual changes is critical for medical attention.

If you have any concerns speak to your Optician or Ophthalmologist.

Glaucoma is otherwise known as 'the silent thief of sight'. This is because it often causes vision loss without early warning signs. Regular eye exams are essential. If you have any concerns please seek medical attention.

Diabetic retinopathy does not usually have any symptoms at first. It's usually found when you go to your diabetic eye screening appointments.

In the later stages, symptoms can include:

-Your eyesight getting worse
-Blurred vision
-Dots and lines (floaters) in your vision
-Finding it harder to see in the dark or low light

The symptoms may gradually get worse over time. It can eventually lead to sight loss.

Symptoms can affect one or both eyes.

November is National Diabetes Month.

During this month there is a global push to raise awareness about diabetes.

Diabetic eye screening is a special eye test designed to detect early signs of diabetic retinopathy, a condition where high blood sugar damages the tiny blood vessels in the retina.

It’s that time of year, where we saddle up and ride with purpose. Our Charity Bike Ride this year takes us to the Isle of Wight, bringing new challenges with a renewed sense of determination. Watery eyes can have various causes. At Sarum Vision we have experienced Consultants who specialise in watery eye assessment and management. Mr Haq is a tear duct surgery (Lacrimal) specialist and will be able to advise you on the best way to treat your watery eye. Some of the procedures that Mr Haq performs in relation to watery eyes are:

Tear duct syringing/flushing
Tear drainage hole enlargement (punctoplasty)
Tear duct bypass surgery (dacryocystorhinostomy)
Ectropion (eyelids rolling out)
Lid tightening
