We had a lovely time at Mere Girl Guides and Brownies on Thursday. Kat and Tim from Salisbury and South Wilts St John Ambulance went through some first aid awareness topics, and the Brownies were awarded badges. The thirty Guides and Brownies were really keen - lots of fun and an important first aid experience !

Happy New Year from all of us at St John Ambulance Salisbury & South Wiltshire! 🎉

Our dedicated volunteers have been out on a very chilly New Year’s Eve, patrolling the streets of Salisbury and helping to ensure everyone gets home safely after the celebrations.

We’d like to extend a huge thank you to the agencies with whom we work alongside to help keep our city safe, including South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust, Salisbury Police, The Salisbury Street Pastors (pictured below!), and the various security policing teams on duty. We’re also incredibly grateful to Salisbury City Council for their continued support, enabling us to support our city once again.

As we reflect on 2025, it’s been a fantastic year for our Network. From providing many hours of event cover to delivering youth excursions and training, teaching hundreds of local people first aid for free, and raising thousands of pounds to help us continue this vital work - none of it would be possible without your support.

Thank you to everyone who has supported us throughout the year. We’re excited to see what 2026 has in store!

Wishing all of our followers a very Merry Christmas! 🎄

This week our volunteers have supported three of the Christmas services at Salisbury Cathedral, concluding this week’s event cover with Midnight Mass.

We will be back out on New Year’s Eve, roaming the streets of Salisbury alongside the Salisbury Street Pastors, helping to keep everyone safe as we ring in 2026 🎇

Last weekend saw volunteers from across the county join together for our annual Carol Service & Presentation Ceremony to celebrate the past year and all its achievements.

In particular, Salisbury & South Wiltshire Network are proud to celebrate not one but two volunteers who completed 1000+ hours service in 2024. We also saw our volunteers receive awards for 500 hours, and some long service awards.

We were also recognised as a Network for our efforts in community engagement, managing to raise over ÂŁ2000 for the charity in 2025 alone, mostly through community events and bucket collections. A lot of this success is down to one volunteer in particular, Tim Watts, whose hard work in organising and delivering countless community events and workshops has enabled us to achieve this amazing figure!

We are so proud of everyone’s achievements, and are looking forward to see what 2026 will bring! 💚

Over the course of two weekends in November and December, three of our Salisbury volunteers, alongside many others from across the country, completed their Emergency Responder (or ER) qualifications.

The ER skillset brings our provision in line with guidance set out following findings from the Manchester Arena Enquiry. When booking St John to cover your event, you’ll now have the option to request our Community First Aiders, suitable for smaller or low risk events, or Emergency Responders where there is a higher risk of injury or illness, with the ability to provide a higher level of care even before the Ambulance arrives. Our designated events team will be able to support you in deciding what level of cover your event needs. Visit sja.org.uk for more details.

A special thank you to the team fabulous trainers and assessors, in particular Nick and Valerie, for all their hard work on the Poole ER course as well as many others across the country!

Last week, some members of our Badger Sett went out on a fee-fi-fabulous adventure to see Jack and the Beanstalk at Salisbury Playhouse, nicely rounding off their current subject, Performance Badger.

Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the show and got stuck in with lots of audience participation 🫛 ! Particular highlights included “Dead” Sheeran and Jill’s fantastic pink hair!

Great day fundraising at Amesbury Tesco on Friday with Mikey, Adam and Chris - over ÂŁ300 raised! Big thanks to Laura, the store community champion for all her help. Bob Jones was there too in another spectacular suit (doing his day job!)

This week, our Network was pleased to welcome not one but TWO external visitors to our weekly meeting.

The first was the lovely Clare from Wiltshire Creative who delivered a fantastic drama workshop with our Badgers to help them towards their Performance Badger badge! 🎭

The second was the fabulous Char (and her lovely mum!) from who delivered a really interesting and informative talk, raising awareness about breast cancer and the importance of regularly checking your chest đź©·

A huge thank you to both for giving up your time!

Our volunteers were out today supporting Salisbury City Council with their Christmas Begins event. It was a fabulous (if a bit chilly), festive celebration, the first of many events and engagements for us over the next few weeks in the run up to Christmas.
