Super excited to be getting on with repairs in my new workshop space 🄰

Finally catching up on all those repairs that have been with me for an age!

Of course, Odin deserved to have a new bed for being top workshop dog… although I’m not sure he agrees šŸ˜

I spent the day yesterday doing a little bit of content filming… I didn’t do any filming because I am:
A) Completely useless at remembering to do any while I’m working and
B) Hate watching myself back and listening to myself.

I’d love to do more, I love talking through saddles and fitting and trying to impart some of my knowledge to my customers because I genuinely believe it’s not just magic and it’s such an important part of the welfare of our ridden horses.

Either way I left the filming to the professionals and tried to hide as much as I could, which was very little as the whole point of me being there was to do the fitting!

Anyway, here’s a little photo of some of the saddles which I took along and I’ll share some of the videos on to my page when I’m brave enough.

In other news, I am working through my messages… it is getting harder to get back to my messages in a 24 hour turnaround time as I have to wait for replies for appointments (I can only hold appointment slots for 24 hours). So if you haven’t heard from me in a few days, either don’t panic I will get back to you or just prompt me again.

Just to add… please do not ask for any March dates. I am full to burst and might start to melt if anyone else asks 🫠
April is filling up too. I’m also having a holiday in April which adds to the lack of dates. Current clients particularly, if you are needing an appointment in the next month to 6 weeks please book now!

From chaos to well stocked, organised chaos ready for the day ahead!

Time fora bit of fun… how many saddles are loaded into my car today?

The best bit? Being full independent, means I work with so many great brands to make sure it’s all about the right saddle for the horse and for you.

Anyone want to take a guess at how many different brands I’ve got with me today?

Another announcement… I am really pleased to be able share that I’ve added another brand into my stock.

Looking forward to receiving my delivery and showing you all what will be available to bring along for appointments.

In other news, March is pretty much full and I am booking into April so please don’t leave things too late.

Finally, I am having some time off this weekend… I was due to have the whole of this weekend off plus Monday but due to delivery issues last week, I am now working Saturday.

The tiny human turns 2 on Monday 😱 *minor panic at where that time has gone!* It does mean I intend to well and truly be switching off from fitting and saddlery over the weekend so I will do my best to get back to everyone but otherwise it will be Tuesday.

I ended last week pretty much looking like the ponies did on the New Forest on Saturday afternoon… a mixture of disappointed, frustrated and if I’m honest a little bit angry at some of the things which go on in the equine industry, on this particular occasion in my own industry!

The positive being I am glad I got to see them and that over the weekend I got to work with some other absolutely fabulous professionals.

In other more positive (less whiney!) news I am very excited to get my work bench and racking organised in the new workshop ready to get set up and ready to work at full capacity 🄰

Sundays are for splashing in muddy puddles šŸŒ§ļø and prepping for the coming week!

Car is all organised and ready for this weeks appointments, it also got a rare inside clean… just ignore the outside.

I have an array of messages šŸ“© that I will likely get back to this evening with a couple of repairs to get done šŸŖ”šŸ”Ø, but for now it’s time for some family fun.

I promise to get back to the saddlery and saddle fitting content soon!

🚨Announcement on Payments 🚨
šŸ’„With immediate effect I will not be offering post appointment invoicing, my terms and conditions do state that payment must be made on the day.

ā—ļøI have a card reader that accepts all good credit and debit cards along with contactless payments, I also accept BACS and if you know that signal on the yard is poor please be prepared and bring cash.

šŸ“£I do not like to use my social media to moan, however as it is only February and I’m already fed up of having to chase payments this will be changing.

ā€¼ļøIf I continue to have any issues with unpaid invoices, I will have to implement a payment on booking system, which will also mean cancellation charges will be applied.

ā±ļøPlease remember I am only a small business, I am also a mother to a wild toddler and my time is limited, I would much rather be spending it doing a multitude of other things both saddlery and non-saddlery related!

I’ve been quiet on social media because well I’m just trying to keep on top of everything.

I am incredibly grateful that you are all keeping me very busy but that does mean particularly after the weekend my messages look somewhat like this… No, this does not include my normal messages and Facebook messages which there are multiple of those too and yes, these are all work related messages šŸ˜….

If you are waiting to hear back from me, you should have had a reply or will be about to receive a reply, I am either poised to press send in the morning on a message at a more reasonable hour and not at 10pm and gone or I am just waiting to hear back from clients so that I can give you a date/time.

On that note, if you have an invoice from me - please pay it without me having to prompt… I don’t need the added admin!

If you are looking to book an appointment please be aware that it’s likely to be March dates I’m able to offer, so do not leave it until last minute thinking a date will be available in the next two weeks, however I do get the odd cancellation so it’s worth an ask because horses are horses and they like to be throw a spanner in the works.

Slight change of plan today although the spotty dog seems to be happy! This brings me onto a good subject for this time of the year and fitting…

ā„ļøWeather Conditions and Appointments ā„ļø
We have been very lucky up to Christmas and the New Year that we’ve not had anything too cold. However, over the last few days the temperature has dropped significantly.

Part of fitting correctly and appropriately is seeing your horse ridden (after all it is when they are moving with you on top that the saddle needs to fit best!) if it looks as though this may not be possible due to ground conditions and arena surfaces, do get in touch to discuss best options, even if this does mean postponing.

This is not just for cases where it is a bit cold, I’m happy to be wrapped up and I am now starting to increasingly look like the Michelin man but this is a safety factor, if the arena or ground is frozen this adds added risks into the ridden part of saddle fitting!

If you have any worries, please get in touch to have a chat!

I have had an absolutely fabulous time off, it really was the reset I needed after an absolutely manic few months.

I am all prepped and ready to get back to work tomorrow, saddles are organised and everything ready to be loaded in the morning.

Even my favourite boots have had a clean and condition. My mum bought me these boots 2 years ago when I was pregnant and could no longer fit in my DuBarrys and Le Chamaeu’s šŸ˜‚ and honestly they were the most comfortable boots from day one, no breaking in needed! The amount of hours/days these boots have done and they are still looking and feeling great after a good clean and condition.

This weekend is off with a bang and two full days, and on that note January is already almost fully booked. Weekends from February will also be reducing so please be aware that these will fill up quickly.

That’s a wrap! šŸŽ„šŸŽ…šŸ¼ā„ļøšŸŽ

I did my last appointment of 2025 today… it has been my absolute pleasure to have been involved in so many of your journeys this year but I think it’s safe to say I am very much ready for a break.

This time last year, I was just getting prepared to head back to my old job after 9 months on maternity leave, I wasn’t particularly looking forward to it (not because I didn’t like my lovely colleagues, in case you are reading this!) but I didn’t want to be travelling around a third of the country after having Esme.

I’d made the start on building up the saddle fitting side of Sarum Saddlery towards the end of my maternity leave but it was still a daunting prospect to make the jump to being fully self-employed in March this year.

I need not have worried, and that is all down to you my very lovely clients! I cannot thank you all enough and I feel very privileged that you have trusted me to be part of yours and your horses care this year.

I hope you all have an absolutely fabulous Christmas and enjoy the festive period, whatever that may look like for you all and I look forward to seeing you all in 2026… I am excited to see what the year of the Horse brings us all ā¤ļø
