Great to have over seventy people come out on a wet afternoon to enjoy our free, dementia-friendly showing of Eddie the Eagle in partnership with Everyman Cinemas in Salisbury. How's this for a dramatic picture? 😉 We'll be back on the first Tuesday of March for Saving Mr Banks.

Independence is often misunderstood as doing everything alone.

In reality, it can mean having the right support in place so life feels manageable, confident and your own. For some people, that support makes the difference between feeling stuck and getting on with life.

True independence is not about age or labels. It is about being able to live in a way that works for you.

To learn more about support that helps people live life their way in Salisbury and Romsey, contact us on 01722 515 761 or visit homeinstead.co.uk/salisbury-and-romsey.

February is National Heart Month, and at Home Instead, we understand that good heart health is essential for overall well-being and longevity.

In the spirit of this month, why not start by adopting one or two heart-healthy habits? Simple actions like going for a walk or adding more fruits and vegetables to your diet can make a significant difference.

We know that keeping up with healthy habits can feel hard, especially while managing day-to-day life. If you or someone you love could use a bit of extra support, our team at Home Instead Salisbury and Romsey is here to help. You can call us on 01722 515 761 or visit homeinstead.co.uk/salisbury-and-romsey to start a friendly conversation.

Did you know that memories from decades ago can sometimes be easier to access than what happened this morning?

That is why reminiscence therapy can be so powerful. Long term memories are often stored differently in the brain and can remain intact even when short term memory becomes unreliable.

What many people do not realise is that reminiscing is not about testing memory at all. It is about reducing pressure. A photograph, a familiar song or a shared story can help someone feel calmer, more confident and more able to communicate, often leading to richer conversations and better emotional wellbeing in the present.

Very often, when supporting someone living with dementia, our Care Professionals in Salisbury and Romsey naturally use reminiscence as part of their visits, through conversation, music, photos or shared routines. It is one of the many small, thoughtful ways we help clients feel more at ease and connected in the moment.

Eating alone now and then is not a problem. Many people enjoy the quiet. What families often do not realise is that when someone regularly eats every meal on their own, it can slowly affect appetite, routine and mood. Food becomes something to get through rather than something to enjoy.

Having company, even once or twice a week, can change that experience. A shared meal, a bit of conversation or simply someone sitting nearby can help bring structure back to the day and make mealtimes feel more human again. It is a small thing that often makes a bigger difference than families expect.

If this feels familiar and you would like a friendly conversation about companionship visits, our team in Salisbury and Romsey is happy to chat on 01722 515 761 or via homeinstead.co.uk/salisbury-and-romsey.
