What helps when you feel anxious, stressed, or caught in a loop of overthinking?

Grounding can be a powerful way to provide balance and reconnect with the world around you. When anxiety spirals or thoughts race, the natural world offers us a gentle way back to the present moment.

Your nervous system responds instinctively to these natural rhythms, shifting from fight-or-flight to rest-and-restore.

Even 10 minutes in a park, garden, or by a window can make a difference. Your breath naturally deepens, your shoulders drop, and your mind finds space to breathe.

Nature reminds us we're part of something larger & helps us find our footing again. The earth beneath us, the sky above us, the steady presence of trees... they've been here long before our current worries and will remain long after.

How are you finding the transition in to September?

The start of the new school year and changing seasons naturally invite reflection and fresh beginnings. For many, this time feels hopeful and energizing - a chance to set new intentions and embrace change.

But September can also bring up difficult feelings. You might find yourself taking stock of where you are in life and feeling uncertain about the path ahead. Perhaps you're noticing the gap between where you are and where you'd like to be, or feeling stuck despite wanting things to be different.

These feelings are completely normal, and you don't have to navigate them alone.

Counselling provides a safe, supportive space to explore what's holding you back and discover what truly matters to you. Together, we can work toward creating meaningful changes that align with your values and help you build a life that feels authentic and fulfilling.

If you're ready to take that next step, I'm here to support you on that journey.

🧠 Worrying isn’t an illness. But dismissing young people’s struggles isn’t the answer either.

We’re concerned by the Government’s new guidance urging schools to teach children that feeling anxious or down is “normal” and not a mental health condition.

Yes—everyone has difficult days. But young people need more than resilience slogans. They need space to talk, support to cope, and access to mental health services when things get tough.

By drawing a hard line between “normal” emotions and “real” mental illness, we risk silencing the early signs of distress and reinforcing stigma.

Let’s support children to name their feelings without shame. Let’s invest in school-based mental health support. Let’s listen to what young people are actually telling us.

Finding Light in the Darkness đź’™

Anxiety can feel like carrying a heavy weight that no one else can see. Your heart races, your thoughts spiral, and sometimes just getting through the day feels overwhelming. If this sounds familiar, know that you're not alone, and there is hope.

Counselling offers a safe space where you can finally set that weight down. It's a place where your feelings are heard without judgment, where we sit with you in your struggles and help you find your way forward, developing tools that actually work for you.

You can quiet the racing thoughts, calm your nervous system, and reconnect with the confident, peaceful person you are underneath it all.

Healing takes time, and that's okay. Every small step forward matters. You deserve support, understanding, and the chance to feel lighter.

Sometimes the path ahead is clear. It's one that you've walked so often you don't have to think about it, you just walk it. The path might feel familiar and comfortable because you know it so well. But what if the path leads to unhappiness, to anxiety, to bad relationships?

In counselling we might look at the paths you walk, if they serve you well, or if you want to create a new path to a different destination.

Working with me, you aren't alone on this journey. We work together to identify and facilitate changes which are meaningful to you, your life and your goals.

I offer counselling F2F in Salisbury and online across the UK to adults and young people (13+)

Unbelievably, the counselling industry is unregulated so anyone can call themselves a counsellor with little or no training.

It has taken me over three years of study (two of which was full time) to gain the qualifications to be a skilled, ethical, safe practitioner. People coming to counselling can be extremely vulnerable, and it's vital that the person counselling them is qualified and has the skills to work with the client.

Training for me will always be ongoing, as I seek to increase my knowledge of different client groups, presenting issues and learn the latest in techniques, so I can offer the best I can to my clients.

I see lots of young people who are struggling with the pressures & stress of school. They often present with self-h*rm, trouble sleeping, & feeling alone, amongst other things.

In sessions we might look at their worries, establish healthy coping mechanisms, sleep hygiene & how they can support themselves.

My tips for helping support young people:

- Listen to them & don't jump into suggesting ways to fix it

- Try to find the balance between 'exams don't matter' & 'your results are really important'. If they are stressed, the exams matter to them.

- Let them know your love for them isn't linked to their grades.

If they, or you, are struggling, do reach out for support. I offer counselling online or in person in Salisbury to anyone 13+ yrs to 80+ yrs.

Do you struggle with your mental health in winter months? As we're moving through October & daylight hours are reducing, not to mention the grey rainy days we have had recently you may notice your mood dip. Today's sunshine was very welcome but isn't enough to top up our vitamin D levels.

Low Vitamin D levels have been linked with depression and anxiety, so it's recommended that we take a supplement over winter.

I believe it's important to support your mind & body.
