Another great week delivering IOSH Managing Safely training.

This week, I travelled up to Consett in the North East to deliver the IOSH Managing Safely course to Region 7 as part of the Harbour Healthcare project.

A big thank you to Lianne Webb and you staff for hosting me for the three days.

The aim of the training was to support managers and maintenance staff in managing health and safety effectively within their homes. It was great to see such strong engagement from the team throughout the course.

This really demonstrates that Harbour Healthcare continues to take health and safety seriously. Their standards are already high, and by giving staff additional skills, knowledge, and confidence, they are further cementing their commitment to keeping people safe.

A really positive week, and a pleasure to be involved.

Another crazy busy week for SM Safety Training & Consultancy!

We started the week with Kevin Doherty CertIOSH delivering IOSH Managing Safely to 12 students via Teams, once again maintaining our 100% pass rate.

Today, we also delivered the NEBOSH HSE Introduction to Incident Investigation course to the Forces Transition Group Ltd community as a give-back to Armed Forces and blue light personnel. It’s always a privilege to support those who serve, and those who have served, having been there myself.

We also received over 25 NEBOSH certificates to post out to successful students from the NEBOSH Managing Stress at Work and NEBOSH Health and Safety Leadership Excellence courses. Many used their ELCAS or SLC funding, which is a fantastic result all round.

We’re also pleased to welcome Wayne Byles CertIOSH as our Lead NVQ Level 6 Assessor in Health and Safety. Wayne brings a wealth of knowledge and experience, and we’re excited about the value he will add to our veteran-run team and learners.

From military experience to civilian qualifications, our mission remains the same: helping people transition, grow, and succeed.

We’re absolutely thrilled at SM Safety Training! 🎉

Our February 2026 NEBOSH General Certificate course saw an incredible 88% pass rate 7 out of 8 students nailed it! 🏅 We’re so proud of their hard work.

If you’re a service leaver, remember you can use ELCAS funding for NEBOSH courses. 💼 All courses are run via Teams proof that military personnel can smash NEBOSH remotely.

National pass rates: 60–65%. Ours? 88%! 💪

Today is our last day delivering the NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate to 9 serving and veteran military personnel. 👏

Another cracking week with a great group, lots of laughs, good discussion, and seriousness when needed. A big part of these courses is sharing real-life military stories and helping turn that experience into civilian understanding and language.

The military has its own way of doing things, and I enjoy helping serving personnel translate those skills and experiences into something that supports them through resettlement and into civilian life.

Always a privilege to be part of that journey. 🎓

🎉 Celebrating Strong NEBOSH Results 🎉

We’re proud to share the latest results from our NEBOSH Fire Safety Certificate course, with both units achieving a 75% pass rate. 👏

These results place our learners above typical national averages, which are often reported to sit around the 60–65% range for this qualification. 📈

At SM Safety Training & Consultancy, we consistently see strong performance across our courses, with the majority of our learners successfully achieving their qualifications.

🏆 This reflects our commitment to delivering high-quality, engaging training that provides real support and practical understanding not just theory.

A huge well done to all learners for their hard work and dedication 👏

If you're looking to progress your career in health & safety, we’d be happy to support you on your journey.

It’s been a nice early start in the office today before we head into Day 5 of our NEBOSH General Certificate course.

This morning has been all about the behind-the-scenes work that keeps everything moving, admin, preparing to post out another successful student certificate, and getting course materials ready for our new service leaver learners.

These new learners have used their ELCAS funding to secure their places, and some have been really smart in the way they’ve bundled courses under one claim to maximise the value of their funding.

We’ve also welcomed another two service leavers onto the Level 6 NVQ Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety Practice, a great next step for those progressing after completing their NEBOSH General course with us.

Supporting service leavers as they build recognised civilian qualifications and move into the next stage of their careers is something we’re incredibly proud to be part of.

Another successful week delivering IOSH Managing Safely.

This week, we had the pleasure of delivering another IOSH Managing Safely course to 18 Harbour Healthcare staff members, including managers, maintenance staff from Region 3, and regional senior managers.
A big thank you to Joanne Wilson and your staff for hosting me, i felt very welcomed.

It is great to see Harbour Health Care actively promoting health and safety and making it a clear priority across the business. Rather than seeing health and safety as a cost, they recognise the value of equipping their teams with the knowledge and confidence to continuously improve safe working practices.

This commitment shows not only a strong investment in their staff, but also in the safety and wellbeing of their residents.

A fantastic week with a great group of people.

What a busy and successful week it’s been here at SM Safety.

We started the week by delivering the NEBOSH HSE Managing Stress at Work course to 12 serving members of the Armed Forces, all of whom passed successfully while making use of their SLC funding to invest in their professional development.

We then spent three fantastic days in St Helens delivering the IOSH Managing Safely course to Region 3 managers and maintenance staff.

are a great example of a company showing that health and safety is not just a tick-box exercise. Their commitment to making sure staff receive the right training highlights how seriously they take protecting their staff, residents, and business.

A huge well done to everyone who took part this week.
