Emergency prescriptions supply

If you have run out of prescribed medicine and need some urgently, there are a few ways to get an emergency supply.

How to get emergency prescription medicine

Use the 111 online emergency prescription service https://111.nhs.uk/emergency-prescription

If you get your medicine with a repeat prescription, you can use the 111 online emergency prescription service.

They'll ask some questions, including where you are and when you are due to take your medicine so they can suggest the best way to get it.

They may refer you to out pharmacy to get your medicine.

If your medicine is not prescribed as a repeat prescription, you can get help from 111 online or call 111 to discuss your options.

Our pharmacy can provide certain emergency medicines to patients even if they don't have a prescription, but you may need to pay.

Why use the NHS Blood Pressure Check Service?

Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is one of the leading causes of premature death in England.
Hypertension is the biggest risk factor for CVD and is one of the top five risk factors for all premature deaths and disability in England.

Early detection, and subsequent treatment, of hypertension is vital in reducing the risk of CVD via the subsequent treatments available from your GP.

An estimated 5.5 million people have undiagnosed hypertension across the country. Bemerton Pharmacy is offering the Hypertension Service on behalf of the NHS to help early detection of the issue.

How long will this take?

The initial blood pressure check will take between 10-15 minutes. If you require the 24 hour blood pressure monitoring our healthcare professional will discuss this with you.

• Free: This is an NHS service and is free of charge to eligible patients

Eligibility

You are eligible for a free NHS hypertension screening service at one of our pharmacies if:

You are aged 40 or over and don’t currently have a hypertension diagnoses

You are aged under 40 and have a family history of hypertension

You have been referred by your GP for a blood pressure check.

How Pharmacy First can help you.
Pharmacy First provides easy access to prompt advice and treatment including prescription medicines, where appropriate, for seven common conditions.

Here is the list of common conditions covered alongside the age criteria:·

Sinusitis (12 years and over)
Sore throat (5 years and over)
Earache (1–17 years)
Infected insect bites and stings(1 year and older)
Impetigo (1 year and older)
Shingles (18 years and over)
Uncomplicated urinary tract infections (UTI) in women (16-64 years)

Please note other eligibility criteria apply. If you are outside of the criteria a pharmacist may still be able to provide advice and care such as suggesting an over-the-counter treatment or if required refer you to another healthcare provider. How to access Pharmacy First.

Step 1 - Simply walk into a our Pharmacy & ask for help. Or you may have been referred by an NHS provider, like NHS 111, or your GP practice.
Step 2 - Our pharmacist will take a few details & assess your condition.
Step 3 - Our pharmacist will talk to you about the most suitable next steps based on your condition & symptoms presented. This may include prescription treatment.

We’re thrilled to announce that Bemerton Heath Pharmacy has caught up with all prescription orders and owed items and are ready on the shelves

We want to extend a sincere apology for the delays over the past few weeks. We’ve faced some challenges, including staff shortages and supplier issues, which set us back. On behalf of all our team and the pharmacy owners, we are truly sorry for any inconvenience this caused.

Here’s what’s new to help serve you better:

📲 SMS Text Service – We’re launching an SMS text service to keep you updated when your prescription is ready for collection. Just pop in, provide us with your number, and we’ll handle the rest!

💻 New System – We’ve upgraded to the latest system on the market! With this update, our counter assistants now have devices that let you quickly order repeat prescriptions by selecting the items you need. It’s all part of our commitment to providing a faster, more efficient service.

📞 Improved Communication – We’re working hard to answer your calls promptly and are in the process of setting up a WhatsApp line so you can easily message us for assistance and updates.

🩺 NHS Free Services – We’re excited to soon offer a range of new free services, funded by the NHS, to support your health.
