Matt Caves BSc Sports Therapist

Matt Caves BSc Sports Therapist Injury Management, Rehabilitation and Prevention. Also able to offer sports massage, pre/post event This isn't true. I am fully insured and a member of the STO.

Based in The Barn at China Fleet Country Club, I will be able to offer treatments in Injury Management, Rehabilitation and Prevention. I am also qualified in giving sports massages, including pre- and post- event massages, and am also able to apply Kinesiological Tape. About Me:
I have recently graduated with a BSc (Hons) in Sports Therapy. I have always been highly interested in all branches of sport and fitness. Coupled with this, I have become fascinated with anatomy and how the body constantly compensates itself. This is a common cause of injuries which you may not even realise is happening. As a sports therapist, I look to return my clients to activity and normal day-to-day living as soon as possible. Sports therapy as a profession looks to maintain a persons performance level competitively and recreationally, whilst also being able to prevent and, where necessary, rehabilitate injuries. A common misconception regarding Sports Therapy is that it is only used by sports performers. In fact, a high percentage of clients tend to be the general public who have picked up the odd injury. Any questions, please do not hesitate to ask!

COVID UPDATE #3

I am more than happy to announce that I will be returning to treatments tomorrow (maintenance + injury management). This post will just detail all the final information to allow you to book in and know what to expect.

* As a therapist I will be in full PPE, including apron, gloves, visor and apron

* As a client, you’ll be required to wear a mask during your treatment. This is not necessary when you walk into the Barn due to Perspex screens, but as soon as you leave the reception area, face mask will be required

* A one way system has been put in place, so would be required to enter through the main door and then exit through the side door (arrows will be on the floor)

* Due to the one way system, payment will be required on arrival to avoid congestion

* You will be required to complete a ‘track and trace’ slip and sign to agree that you have not shown any Covid-19 symptoms in the last 7 days

I hope that this has cleared most details up, if there are any further questions, please don’t hesitate to ask!

COVID UPDATE #2

Hi all,

Thanks for all your patience, this is obviously a tricky time but finally it sounds as though there is light at the end of the tunnel.
Although as a Sports Therapist I am able to return to 'hands on' treatment, the venue I work from is still not yet open. With this in mind and other available equipment I have come to the following decisions

* All 'maintainence' massages will be resuming from early August when the Barn reopens. This will be limited hours but will fit in as many people as possible.

* However I understand that in the past 4 months many of you have picked up injuries and so if you wish to book in due to an injury, then get in contact and I will see you from home instead (still with Covid measures in place).

Thank you again in this trying period but I hope to see many of you soon and have some sense of normality. If you have any questions or queries, don't hesitate to get in contact!

Many thanks,
Matt

COVID UPDATE

Firstly, apologies for the lack of updates on here. Part of it was due to various assessments for university but also having a lack of information to update you on!

I have now had some guidance from the STO about how I'll be able to operate once I am able to return to work. This is subject to change as I will also need to merge this with the procedures that the Barn Spa are putting in place which I am not yet aware of.
But from my aspect, the following will be in place:

* any initial consultations will take place via video call prior to the appointment

* if you have a face to face appointment, to avoid congestion in the waiting area, I would ask that you arrive on time or wait in your car until your time

* masks are required on entering the building and recommended for your treatment. I'll be wearing gloves and mask myself

* all payments should be made via contactless where possible

* I'll be hopeful of opening on 4th July but this is yet to be confirmed

Many thanks for your understanding and hope that everyone is staying safe!

**Calling NHS Workers**

Being back at uni currently, studying a healthcare course and having been on placement in hospitals, its given me an even bigger insight to the stresses that NHS workers go through daily, let alone during times like these.

Therefore from now until the end of April, all NHS staff will be getting £5 off treatments. The work and the hours you put in is unbelievable and I take my hat off to each and everyone of you.

Currently China Fleet is still open and so I am able to offer treatments although as with everywhere else, if you are feeling under the weather or have a persistant cough, I ask that you reschedule your appointment!

Much love at this time,
Matt

Due to starting uni today and finally finding out my timetable in full, I have a much better idea of when appointments will be available. Despite quite a full schedule, I shall still try to be as flexible as possible to fit you all in!

*Announcement*

Apologies for the lack of engagement on here the last couple of months, a lot of stuff has been happening and unfortunately then struggle to find the time to find content to post!
One of the bits I've been trying to get on top of, is the fact that I'm pleased to say that in September I will be returning to Plymouth University to retrain as a radiographer!
Although this will be a full time course with various placements, Sports Therapy is still my passion and so throughout my training wherever possoble, I shall endeavour to continue my business to help all of my amazing clients!
If you have any questions or want to know about booking in for some sessions, please don't hesitate to get in contact and thank you all for your patience :)
