This short paragraph by Richard Cross (Consultant Child and Adult Psychotherapist) captures the process of psychological overwhelm. Fatigue, M. E., depression, autoimmune conditions, authritis (to name a few) are often a result of trauma that sits in one's body, not yet processed.
'When the mind is unable to metabolise extreme, traumatic experiences, the body begins to bear the pain. The psyche reaches a breaking point where it can no longer digest the trauma, and the body speaks what the voice cannot'.
