We'd like to give a huge thank you to Wooden Spoon Charity for helping us bring something truly magical to KO-NEKT! With their incredible grant, we’ve been able to install a brand-new immersive projector in our Sensory Space. Already, it’s proving to be a total game-changer for children and young people with additional support needs.

🌍✨ Today is Makaton International Awareness Day! ✨🌍

At KO-NEKT, we’re proud to join the global celebration of the Makaton Language Programme—a unique system of speech, signs, and symbols that empowers people with learning and communication difficulties to connect, express themselves, and thrive.

📸 Included is a photo of some of our Makaton lanyards and a photo from a training session last year, where over 20 of our staff members completed Makaton training!

Thomas, from our centre in Ayr, has some incredible news to share — he’s been selected to swim for the Paralympic Swim Team!

This is such an amazing achievement and we couldn’t be prouder. A huge well done from Kirsty and the whole KO-NEKT team — your hard work and determination have truly paid off.

We’re starting an exciting new group in Ayr! Join us every Monday, Wednesday & Friday (10am–2pm) at Ko-Nekt Ayr, 9 Miller Road for relaxed, supportive sessions including:
- Life Skills: cooking, budgeting & self-care
- Travel & Community Access: using public transport & local services
- Social Skills : making friends, building confidence & communication

✨ Good luck to all the students heading back to school ✨

We’ve had an amazing 7 weeks of summer support, and we couldn’t be prouder of our staff for going above and beyond to create safe, fun, and supportive spaces for children and young people. 💛

Now we’re back to our term-time schedule — but the fun doesn’t stop here!

Meanwhile, over at our Hub in Saltcoats, our Introduction to Care course is in Week 9, with participants diving into activity planning this week 📚 (photos included!).

🌱 Learn About The Nurturing Programme – Organisational Info Session

We’re inviting local organisations, community groups, and service providers to join us on Wednesday, 3 September for a drop-in informational session about The Nurturing Programme — a free, 10-week course for parents and carers starting on September.

The Nurturing Programme, hosted by KO-NEKT, created by the Centre for Emotional Health, and funded by the Scottish Government’s Whole Family Wellbeing Fund, supports families to:
- Understand children’s behaviour
- Manage emotions (their own and their children’s)
- Use positive discipline strategies
- Build cooperation and self-discipline
- Prioritise self-care

Why attend?
This session will give you a clear overview of the programme so you can:
✔ Refer families who may benefit
✔ Share information with your networks
✔ Learn how the programme aligns with the Whole Family Wellbeing Fund’s aims
