About 7 months ago, I was scrolling through Instagram + I suddenly stopped in my tracks.
As I looked at my screen, a Drum stared back at me.
Like a Siren, she called through the ether.
Her skin, mirroring the Moon + dark as a cloudy Autumn sky …
I was mesmerised.
Patiently, I waited without expectation, but once you hear a Siren’s call there is an ache that gently rattles your bones in the quiet moments + she kept calling.
Drums have a spirit, in many ways they are alive. A living alter, a bridge between the worlds + they respond to a reciprocal relationship.
In July 2023, I met my first Shamanic Drum. Aspen wood frame, white Goat hide, this is the drum you see at Wild Weavings + in my photographs.
During my Shamanic Practitioner training with (+ Alison), my Drum + I built an even deeper relationship, one that I actually find hard to find the words for.
Drums are our gateway to the Otherworld, the Shamanic realms. Tended with care, they support us on our journey + open the mind through trance to a journey that has long awaited us.
I believe that you know in your heart when a Drum is calling to you. Yes, they are medicine tools but I feel as though they call to you, sometimes like a Siren in the mist or a song on the wind. They know when you are ready.
7 months later, I hold this Drum in my own hands. Dark Goat hide, with a light Oak frame, lovingly crafted by Jack at , she is a Drum that is here to do powerful work.
She is not a replacement for my white drum, she is a companion. The darkness, to its light.

It is an honour to walk this path + to find kindred spirits along the way.
In October, I start University, but I also embark of continuation of my Shamanic path. I wonder where this Drum will lead me … 🖤
