So today has been all about limbic reflexology and connecting with the origins of homeostasis. Really fascinating stuff. Our human brain never ceases to amaze me.
One of the areas of the brain called the amygdala, a tiny almond shaped group of nuclei has such a profound affect on many areas of the brains processes, including responses to fear including freezing (immobility) and startle response. Is involved in retrieving memories, fight or flight, and the body's own own control of pain.
In depression, the left amygdala activity can show as exaggerated.
In chronic pain, amygdala function is impaired.
In bipolar disorder the amygdalae are considerably smaller.
There have been research connections between the amygdala and autism.
In schizophrenia the right amygdala is larger than the left.
Amazing, considering the size of this group of nuclei.👣☯️
