What does overwhelm look like?
It doesn’t always look like tears or panic.
Sometimes it looks surprisingly… normal.
Overwhelm can look like:
• Procrastinating on simple tasks
• Snapping at people you care about
• Forgetting things you’d usually remember
• Scrolling your phone but not really taking anything in
• Feeling tired but unable to switch off
• Starting lots of things and finishing none
• Saying “I’m fine” when you really don’t feel it
When your mind is overloaded, even small decisions can feel huge. Your nervous system goes into protection mode, and suddenly everything feels urgent, noisy, or just too much.
It’s not laziness.
It’s not a lack of willpower.
It’s a sign you might need support, rest, or space to reset.
Gentle steps can help: slowing things down, focusing on one small task at a time, getting outside for a few minutes, or simply admitting to yourself that you’re feeling overwhelmed in the first place. Awareness is powerful.
At Holly Blue Hypnotherapy, we work on calming the mental noise, easing anxiety, and helping your mind feel safer and more in control again , because life feels very different when your system isn’t constantly on edge.
If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone — and it doesn’t have to stay this way.
