Happy International Self-Care Day!

July 24th is a reminder that you deserve care, too - not just once in a while, but every single day.

Self-care isn’t selfish — it’s essential. It’s about checking in with yourself, protecting your energy, and prioritising your physical, emotional, and mental well-being.

Whether it’s:
💤 A full night’s rest
🍃 A mindful moment of stillness
💬 Speaking to a therapist or hypnotherapist
🚶‍♂️ A walk outside
💧 Or simply saying no to what drains you —

Self-care looks different for everyone, and that’s okay. What matters is that it’s intentional and consistent.

Today, give yourself permission to pause, reflect, and do one thing that nourishes you.

Why Is It Important to Put Yourself First?

So many of us are conditioned to believe that putting ourselves first is selfish. But here’s the truth: it’s essential.

When you constantly put others' needs before your own, you slowly chip away at your energy, your confidence, and your sense of self. Over time, this can lead to stress, overwhelm, burnout – and even physical illness.

Putting yourself first doesn’t mean you don’t care about others. It means you’re choosing to take care of your well-being so you can show up as your best self – for your family, your work, and your life.

At Holly Blue Hypnotherapy, I help people reconnect with their inner calm and confidence – and release the patterns that keep them stuck in people-pleasing or self-neglect.

Ready to start putting yourself first? Let’s have a chat – your well=being is worth it.

The Benefits of Hypnosis in Supporting Grief

Grief affects the mind, body, and spirit. Hypnosis can offer gentle, supportive relief during one of life’s hardest journeys. Here’s how:

🌿 1. Reduces Emotional Overwhelm
Hypnosis helps calm the nervous system, making it easier to process emotions without becoming consumed by them.

🧠 2. Accesses the Subconscious Mind
Grief can leave us feeling stuck. Hypnotherapy gently accesses deep-rooted beliefs and pain, helping to release guilt, regret, or unresolved emotions.

😴 3. Improves Sleep & Eases Anxiety
Grief often disrupts rest. Hypnosis promotes relaxation, supporting better sleep and reducing the mind's "overthinking loop."

💬 4. Creates Space for Healing
In a safe, guided space, hypnosis helps reconnect with inner strength, loved memories, and the possibility of peace.

✨ Grief doesn’t need to be rushed — but you can find moments of relief along the way. Hypnosis is one gentle step in that direction.

Losing my gran felt like losing the sun, as if the warmth had been drained from the world and I was left to navigate a fog that wouldn’t lift. She was more than a grandmother. She was my anchor, my cheerleader, my safe place. Every memory I cherished had her woven into it, the talks over biscuits and tea, the sound of her laugh echoing in the kitchen when she made cakes, the way she hugged me and held me tight. When she passed, the silence was deafening. Read more...

What Happens in Our Brain When We Grieve?

Grief isn’t just emotional - it’s neurological.

When we experience loss, our brain lights up in the same areas activated by physical pain. The anterior cingulate cortex, amygdala, and prefrontal cortex all play a role, influencing how we process emotions, memory, and even decision-making.

Grief can disrupt sleep, concentration, and even how we perceive time. It’s why loss can feel disorienting and overwhelming.

But here’s the hopeful part: the brain is adaptable. Over time, with support and self-compassion, it rewires. While grief never truly "goes away," we can learn to carry it differently.

If you're grieving, know that what you're feeling is real — and you're not alone.

We all experience fear. It’s part of being human – a natural response that helps keep us safe in the face of danger. The Feeling of Overcoming a Phobia...

It’s hard to put into words —
That moment when something that once filled you with panic… suddenly doesn’t.

✅ Getting on a plane
✅ Holding a spider
✅ Driving again
✅ Speaking in public
✅ Walking into that situation you used to avoid

The fear that used to grip your chest? Gone.

The tightness, the dread, the racing heart? Replaced with calm, confidence, and control.

Clients often say:

“I can’t believe how easy that felt.”
“I didn’t even think about it — I just did it.”
“It’s like a switch has flipped.”

That’s the power of hypnotherapy.

If a phobia is holding you back, know this:
🌟 You weren’t born with it.
🌟 You don’t have to live with it.
🌟 You absolutely can overcome it.

Let me help you take that first step.

Fear of Flying? You're Not Alone...

As summer holidays approach, I’m seeing a lot more people coming to me with flying anxiety – and it's more common than you might think.

You want to enjoy your holiday – not worry about how you’ll get there.

That’s where hypnotherapy can help. It works by calming the subconscious mind, reframing fearful thoughts, and building confidence and control.

At Holly Blue Hypnotherapy, I help clients:

✅ Reduce anxiety around flying
✅ Change their internal “story” about flying
✅ Feel calm, in control and even relaxed on the plane

You can fly without fear. Let’s make your next trip one to look forward to.

When Does Fear Become a Problem?

Fear is a normal, protective response. But when it starts running the show – avoiding lifts, refusing to fly, panicking at the sight of a spider or even feeling trapped in everyday places – it might be more than fear… it could be a phobia.

Phobias can sneak in quietly, then suddenly feel all-consuming. You may find yourself planning life around them, avoiding situations, or feeling anxious even thinking about the trigger.

🚫 Fear of flying
🚫 Spiders or needles
🚫 Driving or crowded spaces
🚫 Social situations or public speaking

If fear is stopping you from living fully, it’s time to get support.

At Holly Blue Hypnotherapy, I work gently with your subconscious to help release fear, reduce anxiety, and regain control – calmly and confidently.

Message me to find out how hypnotherapy can help you move past phobias and into freedom.
