“A journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step” - Lao Tzu

I have often been afraid to make steps that push me outside of my comfort zone. More recently, since I began my Reiki journey I have been taking more and more steps toward a bigger goal.

As of officially this morning, I will be part of the volunteer Complimentary Therapists working within a hospice - supporting the amazing staff, in patients, out patients and their families.

I’ve been called to work like this for a while now and as usual, when the time was right, the Universe has provided this beautiful opportunity for me to share my gift.

I’m lucky enough that I have the ability to spend my time working with energies and I absolutely adore this work. Being allowed this opportunity is something that I will be forever grateful for 🙏🏽

What happens in Vagus does not stay in Vagus…

If you have IBS or other related digestive disorders please feel free to take whatever you feel resonates with you or ask questions privately or on here if you wish 🙏🏽

The vagus nerve is one of the primary components of the parasympathetic nervous system. The vagus nerve flows from the brain through the gut (the solar plexus) and relays messages from the gut directly to the brain and vice versa.

Studies have shown that stress inhibits the function of the vagus nerve and has a detrimental impact on the gut. Allowing the body time to relax and heal allows the vagus nerve to stimulate effectively which has a positive impact on the gut.

The vagus nerve can sense the changes in the gut and transfers this information to the central nervous system which generates an inappropriate response in the body. In short, the vagus nerve calls back to the brain to say there is something wrong and this causes visceral pain and inflammation.

Put simply…stress causes the vagus nerve to behave badly, the gut reacts, this causes stress, the gut behaves badly, the vagus nerve reacts. And the cycle continues (there are other causes of IBS which I will cover separately).

A Reiki session heals the imbalance and allows the body to relax and heal itself. It allows the vagus nerve to be stimulated and react the way that it should. Essentially it is resetting that vicious cycle you get trapped in during IBS.

When there’s an imbalance in the solar plexus, you might experience indigestion and gut pain even if there’s no “medical” reason for it. Reiki aims to clear the blocked energy causing gut disorders and pain.

The reason I advocate for Reiki and how it can help IBS is through both my own experience and what I have seen with my own clients recently. During a Reiki session, a person can relax and this ultimately has positive repercussions on the gut and the body as a whole.

•Supermoon Meditation•

Feeling so blessed to be able to have some time to connect with the energies of the Supermoon last night. It felt really powerful and I even had some new guides join me...tall, bright and strong. I was very grateful for their presence as they helped me to continue to feel supported and grounded.

We’re living in difficult times plus the Supermoon energies may still be affecting us for a few more days - you might be struggling to sleep (I know I was!) or being more lethargic than normal. This can heighten anxieties and stress levels so it’s so important to take time for ourselves.

Try to take time out (even if you can only catch a few minutes) just to spend being kind yourself. Say well done for getting through today or any small wins that you’ve achieved. If you don’t have any outdoor space, I have suggested to clients to chose a meditation space that is close to a window 💚

If anyone is stuck for things to do with bored little ones in the house, a lot of Care Homes are looking for people to be Pen Pals with the Residents over the next few months - especially while they’re isolated from their friends and family.

Cards, paintings or just a little note can brighten up even the most fullest of days and let someone know they’re not alone ❤️❤️❤️
