Another post (albeit a day late) featuring a beautiful blue tit inspecting their food 🐦

Fun fact about blue t**s, aside from their name, they tend to live quite close to where they hatched - some even being discovered living in postboxes and street lamps!

Not only are they adorable, during these hot summer months they tend to feed on insects, whilst in the cooler winter months they also add seeds to their diet.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend πŸ’œπŸ’™

Do you feel self conscious when doing yoga?

Whenever I go to take my photos for content, I am constantly critiquing EVERYTHING:
▫️ My alignment
▫️ If I have rolls of fat) even in poses like above where the twist causes this)
▫️That I'm not flexible enough or Instagram perfect enough
▫️If my smile looks too strained/forced like the asana is too difficult to do naturally
▫️ Are other people watching me doing my yoga and judging?

All of that is human nature to think about and critique, but there are those moments during my practice where I just love being in the flow and how each asana makes my body feel.

My point being, having those doubts or being self conscious is perfectly normal. But always remember how awesome you are, and that the majority of time if people are staring they are looking at you in awe, not in judgement πŸ’œ

With the Wimbledon qualifiers underway and the main draw next week, what better theme for this week's posts than tennis 🎾 Who will you be on the edge of your seat cheering for?

Whilst I could have been here for hours thinking of all the best asanas to help tennis players, I've stuck to a full body all-rounder.

Tennis is a very intense sport and requires a good range of movement in your upper body, as well as agility and a sharp mind. Therefore, it is important to stretch before and after a match to ensure you not only have the range of motion and are alert, but also to prevent injuries.

Shoulder openers, neck and wrist stretches are important in preventing your upper body from stiffening up after you have cooled down. But it's also important to remember about your legs, hips, feet and back (hence the all rounder post above).

As always, try to hold each pose for 3-5 breaths, or as long as is comfortable for you. Also don't forget to stretch both sides of the body evening and LISTEN to your body: if it's painful, don't do it! Just ease yourself slowly out of the asanas and rest.

If you have any questions or want to know more, pop a comment below or drop me a message πŸ’œ

What's a pose you forget, but every time you rediscover it you wonder why you don't do it more often?

For me it's probably wild thing: it's such a good stretch for the whole of my front body, yet I rarely include it in my practice!

Happy Monday everyone! The sun is finally out in the UK so it's time to shake off our June "winter" blues and enjoy the outdoors again - and what better way than doing some yoga outside 🧘

Today's theme is all about spinal twists and how you can wring your body out in all sorts of ways! What's your favourite kind of spinal twist?

Whether you are incorporating spinal twists into your practice, or just trying to help get ease the stiffness from being sat down working for too long; there are so many benefits to doing a twist:
πŸ”€ Maintaining spinal mobility and range of movement
πŸ”€ Stimulating your metabolism and improving digestion
πŸ”€ Decompressing the spine and easing tension or stiffness
πŸ”€ Helping both with pain relief and relaxation
πŸ”€ Improving awareness of your body and balance

However, whilst there are many benefits to doing any form of a spinal twist, it is important to know your body and keep your safety in mind. Do not do these poses if you:
🚫 Are pregnant
🚫 Suffer from spinal disc or other spinal injuries
🚫 Suffer from inflammatory digestive issues
🚫 Feel any pain whilst doing these poses

It is SO important to listen to your body and understand what helps you vs harms you. So enter each pose slowly, hold for 3-5 breaths (or as long as is comfortable) and then slowly exit the pose.

It is also important to make sure you are breathing slowly and deeply throughout these asanas, so inhale to lengthen the spine, exhale as you twist into a pose, inhale to come out, or exhale if you want to twist further.

As always, if you have any questions, pop them below or drop me a message! πŸ’œ

Happy May Day everyone!!!

A little late on my Friday fun post, and also on the Easter theme, but better late than never!

Today's post features an adorable lion head bunny doing their standard full body stretch: urdhva mukha svanasana aka upward facing dog.

My bunny, Leo, does this all the time and I'm forever envious watching him and knowing I'll never be able to have a stretch as satisfying as that seems for him!

Does anyone else love watching their pets stretch?

Have a great bank holiday weekend!

Just sending some love to you all πŸ’œ

I've been sucky with content creation and posting, but I've been busy living my life outside of social media and enjoying spending time with my nearest and dearest.

This year is flying by and I can't believe it's May next week! My goal this year was to travel more, and I fully intend to do this.

What are your goals for the year? Are you still on track?

Did you know, the Quadratus Lumborum (QL) is a muscle that is often a primary source for lower back pain?

This muscle runs along the spine on both sides from the pelvis all the way up to the lowest rib. It is essential for stabilising your pelvis and supporting your core.

As this muscle is so important for supporting the body, when it is impacted it can have a knock on effect to other parts of the body:
limiting your mobility; affecting how you bend down/pick things up; even changing the way you walk.

If you suffer for QL pain you may experience anything from a sharp pain while sneezing or coughing; a dull ache in the lower back; a stabbing pain across your lower back when rolling over in bed; to chronic long-lasting pain.

There are many causes of QL pain and tightness, including:
🦴 Prolonged sitting
🦴 Poor posture: slouching, leaning on one hip more when sitting/standing (looking at all you long distance drivers), or sitting without any back support
🦴 Weaker muscles surrounding the QL
🦴 Tilted pelvis causing one leg to be longer than the other
🦴 Trauma or any other long lasting injury

I have included some stretches here to help encourage relaxation within the QL muscles and improve mobility. Other ways to help alleviate the tension include:
🩺 medicine or trigger point therapy/injections from a licensed professional
πŸ’†Regular massages
πŸ›€ Heat or Ice treatments (or simply having a bath)
🧘 Regular stretching

With the poses shown, hold each asana for 3-5 deep breaths or as long as feels comfortable for you. And as always, listen to your body! If it feels too much, or is painful, slowly exit the asana and counter in a way that feels good for you and your body.

What's your favourite way to help alleviate any pain or tension when you experience this?

A dear friend told me how much they enjoy my posts, so naturally my 400th post had to be this (albeit a day late πŸ˜…)

I can't have the same sass as this amazing Leopard Gecko, but when the inspiration hits you in a sauna, you've just gotta strike a pose!

Fun fact about Leopard Geckos 🦎: their gender is determined by their incubation temperature!
90 degrees = male ♂️
80 degrees = female ♀️
87 degrees = either! πŸ‘«

Today's pose is Virabhadrasana II aka Warrior 2. This is great for:
🦎 Toning the legs
🦎 Stabilising the hips and increasing their flexibility
🦎 Stimulating the internal organs in the abdominal area
🦎 Opening the chest and shoulders
🦎 Increasing strength in the legs, hips, arms and shoulders

Hope you all have a fantastic weekend! ❀️

Words can't express how grateful I am to and for being given the opportunity to attend this year's Soul Circus festival!

From the venue, to the classes and people; everything was PERFECT!

I had the opportunity to be a student and learn from so many incredible instructors. Not to mention having the opportunity to connect with so many wonderful people!

It was the perfect end to a week, and a fantastic way to start this week with the best mindset πŸ’œπŸ’œπŸ’œ

Hi everyone πŸ™‹πŸ»β€β™€οΈ Just wanted to let you know I'm still alive and kicking! My pain has been pretty awful these past couple of months, so content creation has not been top of my list.

I'll *hopefully* be back to normal in no time! But thank you for your messages of concerns - I appreciate you all!

In the meantime, if you have any Friday fun, panel requests, or have any questions, you can always send me a message and I'll come back to you when I can.

Hope you're all safe and well and having the best summer ever!! πŸ’œπŸ’œ
