With the Wimbledon qualifiers underway and the main draw next week, what better theme for this week's posts than tennis πΎ Who will you be on the edge of your seat cheering for?
Whilst I could have been here for hours thinking of all the best asanas to help tennis players, I've stuck to a full body all-rounder.
Tennis is a very intense sport and requires a good range of movement in your upper body, as well as agility and a sharp mind. Therefore, it is important to stretch before and after a match to ensure you not only have the range of motion and are alert, but also to prevent injuries.
Shoulder openers, neck and wrist stretches are important in preventing your upper body from stiffening up after you have cooled down. But it's also important to remember about your legs, hips, feet and back (hence the all rounder post above).
As always, try to hold each pose for 3-5 breaths, or as long as is comfortable for you. Also don't forget to stretch both sides of the body evening and LISTEN to your body: if it's painful, don't do it! Just ease yourself slowly out of the asanas and rest.
