Weight loss stops working because you stop working!

Reasons for weight regain after a diet:
• Not building a healthy metabolism after finishing with your deep calorie deficit.
• Not developing a healthy relationship towards food and a sustainable maintenance program.
• Thinking you have to continue low calorie with high cardio forever to sustain what you’ve achieved (fear of eating more/doing less) which isn’t sustainable long term, or enjoyable.
• Reverting back to your old lifestyle - being inactive and sloppy with portioning/weighing your food.

Diets do work - or I would rather refer to them as “calorie maintenance programs” to remove the negative connotation with “diet” - as that’s all we’re doing is managing our calorie intake and calorie expenditure.

“Diets” shouldn’t be an exhausting process that you’re going to punish yourself with for a few months, then give up and think the results are going to stick.

Losing the weight can be an intense process, yes. But maintaining it is easy with the right habits.

And throughout the whole thing - the taste of the food should be enjoyable - just the quantities will vary depending on what phase you’re in.

There is a lot more that goes into this as we aren’t robots - lifestyle/routine, habits, cravings, self discipline, stress management, mindset.

This is why online coaching is overtaking personal training, and PT’s who aren’t providing these interventions need to up their game.

And trying to do all of this by yourself reduces your chances of changing yourself even more (you know this because you’ve probably tried already.)

Having a coach goes so in depth and covers all these areas - all optimised towards the current scientific research.

Cheeky physique (& hair) update

Current weight: 88.7kg
Hair: Can just about reach my mouth

Weight at the end of my cut in July: 80.7kg

So 8kg gained across 6 months.

Roughly 0.3kg gain a week which is pretty spot on for me.

Lifts have been increasing smoothly.

Calories recently pushed up to 3700 RD/3900 TD.

Will be going into a fat loss phase in March/April, depending on what summer activities I get lined up.
Or maybe when I reach 90kg.

One of my favourite Cravero Coaching transformations which I feel deserves the spotlight once more 👏

An example of what you can achieve if you put your mind to it and take the right approach.

I came across a forum today discussing a coach who’s basically starving his clients on crazy low calories, giving them an unreasonable training program to follow, and any of his clients who raise an issue get shouted at or booted off the course.

Not only that but he was causing health issues for a number of his clients because of this.

One of them being disrupted hormone balance expressed as loss of menstrual cycles, or stoppage of breast milk production in postnatal females.

So I thought I’d toot my horn here and say that my clients get results like this without experiencing any health issues..

Focussing on the pain of not being where you want to be or the pain involved in action only creates a negative, stressed mindset which can lead to overwhelm and avoidance.

“I’ll never get there, it’s so far away”
“It’s so much effort”…..

Focussing on a “reward for the little things” and “accepting it’s going to take effort” mindset creates a positive feedback loop which leads to more and more action.

We all have successes and failures in life.
But the self belief developed from focussing on your successes (the daily achievements) compared to the lack of self belief developed from focussing on your failures (not being where you want to be) has a huge impact on the action you’re going to be taking in your journey to get there - thus impacting your ability to even get there.

Catch your thoughts and feelings in the moment and take control.

Also I put “what you’re going to achieve” instead of “what you want” because you’ve gotta manifest that s**t.
There is no other outcome other than you succeeding.
You only fail if you give up.

Gonna toot my own horn that was motivating af 💪

Very successful 9 week fat loss phase for my client - smashing out a great time in her marathon and nailing her shape for her wedding dress fitting 👏

The power of having a coach - ensuring everything is nailed to optimise progress towards all goals in a healthy and manageable way.

Now we’re going to reverse diet and maintain this shape until the big day.

Bringing metabolism back up post diet is essential to maintaining the shape you’ve worked hard to achieve.

Already an experienced gym goer - we needed to nail a few things to push him to that next level.

And we managed to create a routine that he could comfortably maintain alongside juggling a full time job, a family, and a masters degree.

Got what he deserved for the effort he put in.

The key factor that wasn’t there all the other times he had tried was that he didn’t have the right approach.

You can have the motivation, the drive, and a gym membership - but that doesn’t mean you’ll achieve what you want to achieve.

Don’t underestimate the importance of the finer details.

If you’re going to invest time, effort and money into your fitness endeavours - get the guidance of a professional to make sure that investment doesn’t go to waste - and you don’t end up back where you are right now.

Being a teacher working late hours and diabetic can certainly pose problems when it comes to training, nutrition, and staying in shape.

But for my client here we managed to smash out a nice transformation and were in a great place to push for more.

Unfortunately we had to stop due to personal reasons - but we’re hoping we can get back on track and continue pushing to see what we can really achieve!

“Healthy food” is a subjective term.

What does healthy mean to you?

You can eat “healthy” and gain weight. This weight gain might get so much that you become unhealthy.

Same as you can eat low calorie foods and deprive your body of certain nutrients - and become unhealthy.

Foods can be dense in micronutrients (vitamins & minerals) and fibre but it doesn’t mean it’s low in calories.
If you’re looking to improve the general “feeling” of your body - energy & focus levels, mood, digestion, blood pressure, blood sugar levels, organ health (liver, kidneys, heart etc.) - be mindful of the nutritional profile in what you eat.

If you’re looking to improve or manage your body composition - be mindful of the calories & macronutrients in what you eat (though these can also impact your energy & focus levels & mood).

Do your own due diligence, don’t just listen to the masses.

Tbh both of these should really be priorities in life and they aren’t exclusive of each other - so takeaway message - just learn about food and manage the left side of the picture as well as the right - balance 👌
