Important Update: Prescribing for Travel, Scans, and Dental Procedures
Changes to Our Prescribing Policy
To ensure patient safety and provide care in line with current medical guidance, our practice will no longer prescribe medication in advance for the following situations:
• ✈️ Fear of flying or travel-related anxiety
• 🧲 Claustrophobia or anxiety related to MRI scans
• 🦷 Anxiety related to dental procedures

Why Are We Making This Change?
Medications sometimes requested for these situations (such as sedatives) can:
• Cause drowsiness and impair alertness
• Affect coordination and judgement
• Interact with other medications or health conditions
• Increase risks in environments such as flights or medical procedures
Because of these risks, prescribing these medications in these settings is not considered safe or appropriate.
What Should You Do Instead?
If you are anxious about an upcoming flight, scan, or dental procedure:
• Please speak directly with the relevant provider (airline, hospital, or dentist)
• They can offer appropriate advice, support, or alternative options
• Many services have specific support pathways for anxious patients

Its with sadness we are announcing the retirement of Dr R Allan. Dr Allan has served the Saundersfoot community for 33 and a half years ( apparently the half is important!) In all that time has has had little or no sick leave and has directed the surgery through some very tough times, all with his wry sense of humour intact.
We wish him a happy and healthy retirement, which is well deserved. His presence will be missed by us all.
