For the past year, Christies Care has provided free respite care sessions at Mid Suffolk Leisure Centre alongside a family caregiver's stretch-and-strengthen exercise class. We’ve had so much fun during our weekly sessions and met such incredible people! It has been a privilege to help families in this way. A special thank you to everyone who helped make this project possible and to all those who came along and joined us this past year.

❄️How to help vulnerable people stay warm during the cold snaps❄️

Cold weather can be especially difficult for adults over 65, people with low mobility, long-term health conditions, learning disabilities, and those at risk of falls. If you know someone who may be alone, please check in and make sure they have what they need to stay safe and warm 💛

✅Heat rooms you use most to at least 18°C
✅Use draught excluders on external doors
✅Close windows at night
✅Wear 2–3 thinner layers instead of one thick layer

While the winter wonderlands are stunning, this winter flu going around is certainly not! Most likely, we all know someone who is currently suffering from a cold, flu, or sore throat. There are a lot of bad Flu and cold germs circulating at the moment!

We hope you and your loved ones stay warm and healthy as we ride out these colder months. These are our top tips for staying warm and keeping those winter colds away:

1️⃣ Layer up – wearing several thin layers helps trap heat and keeps your body temperature steady throughout the day 🧣
2️⃣ Keep hands clean – regular handwashing with anti-bacterial soap is one of the best ways to stop the spread of cold and flu germs 🧼
3️⃣ Stay hydrated – warm drinks like herbal teas or soups help keep you warm, hydrated and soothe sore throats ☕
4️⃣ Eat nourishing meals – a balanced diet helps support your immune system 🥣
5️⃣ Rest and listen to your body – getting enough sleep gives your body the chance to fight off infections 😴
