Scarlet fever is a contagious infection that mainly affects children and can cause a sore throat, fever and a distinctive rash.

Early recognition and treatment are important to help reduce the risk of complications and limit spread. Community pharmacies can also offer advice on managing symptoms and when further medical care is needed, making them a helpful first point of contact for many minor illnesses. Knowing the signs and where to get help can support quicker recovery. 🌡️👶🩺✨

Norovirus is a stomach bug that causes diarrhoea and vomiting.

The average number of patients in hospital with norovirus each day last week rose to over 1,000 for the first time this winter.

It can spread very easily, but washing your hands frequently with soap and water is the best way to stop it spreading.

If you catch it, stay at home until two days after the symptoms stop. Don’t visit hospitals or care homes during this time.

National Eating Disorders Awareness Week — February 23 to March 1, 2026 💙

It’s eating disorder awareness week. Eating disorders can affect people in many different ways. An eating disorder is a mental health condition where you use the control of food to cope with feelings and other situations.

Unhealthy eating behaviours may include eating too much or too little or worrying about your weight or body shape. See the NHS website- https://www.nhs.uk/mental-health/feelings-symptoms-behaviours/behaviours/eating-disorders/overview/

If you or someone you care for is struggling with an eating disorder, this easy read guide might be useful to give you some information and guidance.

It is helpful to be aware that some autistic people and people with ADHD struggle with eating. The link below has resources to explain more about this.
