Service of Reflection – National Covid Reflection Day
St Mark’s Church, Scarborough
As we gather on Sunday 8th March 2026 at 2:00pm at St Mark’s Church to mark National Covid Reflection Day, we are inviting members of our community to help shape this special service.
Over the course of the pandemic, the people of Scarborough showed extraordinary courage, compassion and resilience. Many served tirelessly as key workers and volunteers. Many carried the weight of responsibility in hospitals, care homes, schools, shops, emergency services and essential services. Many supported neighbours, friends and strangers in quiet, unseen ways.
And many experienced profound loss.
This Service of Reflection will be a time to remember those we have lost, to honour those who served, and to acknowledge the shared experiences that changed our town forever.
We warmly invite:
- Key workers and frontline staff
- Volunteers and community organisers
- Those who lost loved ones
- Anyone whose life was deeply affected by the pandemic
To consider sharing a short reflection as part of the service.
You may wish to speak about what you witnessed, what you learned, who you remember, or what gave you hope. Reflections can be shared in person, read on your behalf, or offered in writing if you would prefer a quieter contribution.
Your story matters, Your experience is part of Scarborough’s story.
By sharing together, we honour the past, give thanks for dedication and sacrifice, and look toward the future with hope.
If you would like to contribute, please get in touch on 01723 501027, office@g-roberts.co.uk or message our page
All are welcome as we gather in remembrance, reflection and hope.
We are proud to announce a special community event taking place this March.
The COVID-19 pandemic had a profound impact on so many lives and, heartbreakingly, took so many from us. We recognise that many families were unable to say goodbye in the traditional way or hold the funerals and gatherings they would have wished for.
With this in mind, we have partnered with local community businesses and groups to bring people together for a meaningful event of remembrance, reflection and support. More details coming soon — we look forward to sharing this special occasion with our community.
