Week 2 of the Level 1 TMJ Massage Therapies® Course is all about fascia, the body’s forgotten organ.

This incredible web of connective tissue wraps around everything, creating structure, movement and flow.

When it becomes tight or dehydrated, it can quietly affect how we move, breathe and even how the jaw feels.

Through gentle myofascial release, we help the body soften, unwind and remember how to move freely again. It’s one of my favourite parts of the course where everything begins to connect.

So many myths still surround jaw pain and TMJ Dysfunction and they can stop people from finding the help they need.

TMJ pain isn’t just physical and it doesn’t just “go away.” It’s influenced by how we move, how we hold ourselves and even how we feel.

And it doesn’t discriminate, I see it in children, teenagers, parents, and professionals alike.

The more we understand the whole picture, the better we can support true, lasting relief.

If your jaw feels tight, sore or just never seems to relax, this is for you…

I’ve created The Jaw Ball Method® 3-Day Challenge, a gentle, guided experience to help you relax, release and reset your jaw in just a few minutes a day.

Week 1 of the November 2025 Level 1 TMJ Massage Therapies®️ Online CPD Course has begun!

This week we’re diving into the foundations, what TMJ Dysfunction really is, why it happens and how to recognise it in your clients.

In our first Live Q&A, we’ll be exploring one of the biggest questions I get asked: Why are we seeing more jaw pain than ever before?

From posture changes and stress to screen time and lifestyle shifts, the research continues to show just how interconnected our habits and our jaw health really are.
Goldstein & Makofsky (2005) found that forward head posture, also known as “tech neck”, has direct neurophysiological links to jaw function. In simple terms, the way you hold your head can literally change how your jaw moves.

This week is all about awareness, understanding the jaw not in isolation, but as part of the whole body. It’s where the journey to truly effective treatment begins.

If this has sparked your interest, the next Level 1 course starts March 2026 and the waiting list is now open https://mailchi.mp/tmjmassagetherapies/march-2026-waitlist

When someone comes to me with jaw pain, I never just look at the jaw.

I listen to how they breathe.
I notice how they sit or stand.
I ask where they hold tension when they’re stressed.

The jaw never works alone, it’s part of a story that runs through the whole body. Posture, breath, emotion and movement all play their part in how we hold, release and heal.

That’s what a whole-body approach truly means, seeing beyond the symptoms to understand the person.

It’s funny how the smallest habits can have the biggest impact.
Most people never realise they favour one side when chewing but over time, that imbalance can quietly feed jaw tension, headaches and even posture changes.

If you notice yourself always chewing on the same side, try switching it up. You might be surprised how much lighter and more balanced your jaw starts to feel.

It’s all about awareness, connection and giving your jaw the chance to move freely again 💙

TMJ Dysfunction comes with a lot of myths attached and they can hold people back from finding the right help.

What I see in clinic, and what research supports, is that TMJ issues are often part of a whole-body picture. With the right approach, symptoms can improve, sometimes dramatically.

So if you’ve been told there’s nothing you can do, or that this is just something you have to live with… please know that’s not true. Relief is possible.
