TMJ work fits seamlessly into dental care when approached thoughtfully and is another great example about how the work translates into real clinical settings.

In this case, a dentist working with another dental professional was able to support meaningful change, not by doing more, but by working differently. Gentle, precise intra-oral release, combined with an understanding of fascia, posture, and stress, created immediate shifts in jaw tension and clenching patterns.

This is exactly why I teach a whole-body approach.

Raise your hand if you have been told nothing is wrong, that it’s “just grinding,” or that treatment has to be intense to work 🙋

In reality, jaw dysfunction is subtle, layered, and deeply connected to how the whole body functions.

Jaw pain is often misunderstood, even by people who’ve been living with it for years. But when we slow down and look beyond the surface, that’s when real change begins.

I’d love to hear what story you’ve been told about your jaw pain.

Dentistry, yoga, bodywork… different settings, the same need for better jaw care. Melanie’s journey is a beautiful example of how this work fits across disciplines.
She saw the gap, took the learning and now has tools she can share with the people she supports every day.

That’s why I created this course, to bridge experience, not replace it.

The next Level 1 cohort begins in March 2026. Registration is now open if you’d like to be part of it.

Even as TMJ Massage Therapies® has grown and reached practitioners all over the world, this is still where the work begins for me, in the clinic.

Being hands-on, listening, observing and responding to what the body is showing me is what shaped everything I now teach. It’s where my understanding deepens, where my curiosity stays alive and where the work continues to evolve.

Teaching others this approach is incredibly fulfilling but staying connected to real people, real bodies and real change is essential.

Staying in clinic keeps me sharp, grounded and deeply connected to the work I teach.

If you’ve been wondering whether the Level 1 TMJ Massage Therapies® Online CPD Course could be the right next step for you, I’m hosting a free live webinar on Wednesday 14th January to talk it all through.

I’ll be sharing a clear overview of the course including how it’s structured, what you’ll learn, who it’s designed for and how this whole-body approach has helped practitioners support clients with jaw pain more confidently and effectively.

We’ll also cover accreditation and CPD points, key dates for the next intake and I’ll answer the most common questions I’m asked about the training.

It’s a relaxed, informative session and a great way to get a feel for whether this course aligns with where you’re heading in your practice.

You can register via the link below, I’d love to see you there 💙

A fresh year always brings that feeling of reset and for so many of us, the jaw is the first place to tighten when life speeds up again.

Choosing ease doesn’t mean slowing down your goals… it simply means moving through them with a little more softness, awareness and breath.

Your jaw feels everything, the late nights, the to-do lists, the plans, the pressure. And it also responds beautifully when you give it even the smallest moment of space.

Here’s to a year of less clenching, more grounding, and a body that feels supported every step of the way.

Even with everything happening behind the scenes - courses, graduates, teaching, recording, creating - the heart of my work is still the same, being in clinic, helping real people find real relief.

So many people think jaw pain is just a physical issue but for many of us, it arrives during the hardest seasons of life. I wish someone had told me that years ago, before I knew about TMJ work, when I was carrying far more than I realised in my jaw.

If you’re moving through grief, change or emotional load and your jaw feels tighter than ever, you’re not doing anything wrong. You’re human. And your body is speaking.

Be gentle with yourself and let your body guide you. Small shifts in awareness can create the biggest changes in how your jaw feels.

Christmas… already?! This year has flown by and what an amazing one it has been! These next couple of weeks are for slowing down, spending time with my favourite people, long walks, sea swims (of course!) and giving my own nervous system a little time to soften too.

Thank you for being here, whether you’re a client, a course graduate, a podcast listener, or someone who’s simply learning to understand their jaw a little more each day. It means so much.

Wishing you a gentle, joyful, restorative Christmas.
Look after yourselves, unclench when you remember… and I’ll see you in the New Year 💙

If you’ve ever noticed one-sided tension or clicking, this could be one of the reasons, especially if you spend long hours reading, working, thinking or simply trying to get comfortable at their desk.

Resting your hand on your chin may seem harmless but that gentle sideways pressure can slowly change how the jaw aligns and behaves.

The good news is this habit can be unlearned and your jaw responds beautifully to small posture tweaks and a bit of awareness.

Tools like The Jaw Massage Ball® can really help to soften and rebalance things at home, supporting the release of built up tension.

I recently had the absolute pleasure of chatting with the brilliant Carla Bickerstaffe - Sports Massage Therapist, Invictus Games medical team member and a passionate advocate for whole-body care.

Her journey into jaw work began unexpectedly… through the athletes she was supporting. What started as “tight necks” and “stress headaches” soon revealed something deeper: jaw tension quietly affecting performance, recovery, breathing patterns and even pelvic alignment.

In this episode, Carla shares the moments that changed the way she views the jaw, the case stories that still stay with her, and how the Level 1 TMJ Massage Therapies® course helped her bring everything together through a whole-person lens.
