A few months ago a member of our team put together a heart warming poem for our operational teams at IMT Medical Transport.
After seeing some of our recent posts for our last CERAD course, he has put one together for our instructors. Dare I say we were all laughing and nodding our heads in agreement 😅
- Lights, Sirens and Scones 🥰
There once was an instructor, bold and loud,
who trained nervous drivers to weave through a crowd.
With blue lights flashing and sirens that Yelp,
off out they go, to those that need help.
From motorways North, to the lanes down South,
with a brew in their hand and sarcasm in their mouth.
They would travel the country, near and far,
teaching calm heads how to handle the car.
And there in the chaos, sirens ablare,
learners grip tightly with a wide, startled stare.
“Now watch this vehicle, they will pull out",
“Indicate? Them? Ha, no doubt.”
With running commentary, witty and dry,
they predict every move like a motoring spy.
But somewhere between all the sirens and stress,
there’s a vital stop off, they will gladly confess.
“Right everyone, the training has paused… this is serious stuff, and can't be ignored".
"That café up there does a scone above the rest.”
"With jam, cream and butter, by far the best".
With crumbs on their shirt and tea in their hand,
they will brief on the next run, like a true pro of the land.
“Emergency driving is important, it’s true…
But never ignore, a brew with a view.”
Learners improve with each siren run,
from shaky beginnings to controlled and safe fun.
Though sat navs reroute and stomachs might groan, they know every café that’s worth a detour zone.
So here’s to the instructors, brave and wise,
with laughter lines and knowing eyes.
Learners build skills that truly save,
while navigating hazards with guidance they gave.
Because driving on blues is not about speed,
It’s awareness, control… and patience you need.
And knowing the places with cake worth the miles,
that turn stressful days into tea fuelled smiles!
