You adapted to survive.
That was intelligence. That was strength.

And sometimes, survival skills stay long after the danger has passed - showing up as tension, distance, exhaustion, or feeling stuck.

Therapy offers a space to slow this down, make sense of it, and gently build something that feels safer now.

If you’re curious, you’re welcome here.

Feeling Truly Appreciated Today 💐

I had such a lovely surprise when Simon from Ashby Funeral Care visited me and personally delivered this gorgeous bouquet of flowers to celebrate our recent award for Best Mental Health Centre 2025.

It was one of those moments that really stop you in your tracks - not because of the flowers themselves (although they are absolutely beautiful!) but because of the genuine thought, effort and kindness behind them.

Working in mental health, you don’t do this work expecting recognition. You do it because people matter, healing matters, and safe spaces matter. So when someone from outside our organisation takes the time to acknowledge that work, it’s incredibly touching.

A huge heartfelt thank-you to Ashby Funeral Care for this gesture. It’s not every day you meet people and businesses who go out of their way simply to lift someone else up. Their compassion and community spirit really shine through.

Feeling grateful, humbled, and even more motivated to continue doing what we do best. 💛

Wanting to be close to someone… but stepping back the moment they get too near.

It’s not confusion.
It’s not mixed signals.
It’s not playing hard to get.

It’s what relational trauma feels like.

When closeness once ment criticism, rejection, betrayal, inconsistency or harm, the body learns to protect itself -even when the heart wants connection desperately.

You’re not broken for pulling back.
You’re not difficult.
You’re not too much.
You’re trying to stay safe with strategies that once kept you alive.

Healing means learning, slowly and gently, that connection can be safe again.
At your pace.
With people who honour your boundaries.
With support that helps you feel grounded, not overwhelmed.

You deserve connection that doesn’t frighten your nervous system.
You deserve closeness that doesn’t make you shrink.
You deserve relationships where your whole self can breathe.

If Christmas feels heavy this year, you are not alone. Grief doesn’t follow a calendar, and it’s okay if this season feels different.
This season can be beautiful for some but deeply painful for others.

When someone you love is missing, the world can feel out of sync with your heart. Lights, music, and celebrations can feel overwhelming or even painful. It’s okay to step back. It’s okay to grieve.

We see you! You deserve support, softness and space so please take a look at our website and choose your therapist on there. You don’t need to carry it alone.

I’ve found a new thing that’s been helping me sleep …😴✨

Lately I’ve been experimenting with different ways to improve my sleep, especially on these colder nights - and I’ve stumbled on something that feels incredible!

I treated myself to a new electric blanket, and honestly …I didn’t expect such a difference.
Going from a cold room to a deliciously warm bed feels like the biggest hug at the end of the day.

There’s something about that steady warmth - it feels grounding, soothing, like my whole system can finally settle.

I get into bed and it’s just … delicious. A kind of comfort that instantly tells my body, “you’re safe, you can rest now.”

And the surprising part?
I’ve been falling asleep within minutes.
My mind feels quieter, my muscles unclench, and I can feel myself drifting before I even realise it

Of course, I know it’s not for everyone - some people love a cool room and cold sheets!
But if you’re someone who enjoys a long hot bath, a warm snuggly jumper, or feeling cocooned…this might be worth trying.

For me it’s become a tiny evening ritual I actually look forward to.
Moments of comfort.
A little dose of self-care that signals the end of the day.

Sometimes the small things make the biggest difference.
And if you’ve been struggling with sleep or rest lately, maybe a bit of warmth could help you too. 💛✨

Crying is a human response, not a gendered one. This photo normalise men expressing their emotions openly and safely to each other with no shame.

Let’s keep promoting that men can talk, cry, and be supported without judgement.

Well done! 💪🏼👏🏼🤝🫶🏽🤩

When you don’t know who you are without them

A relationship ending can shape your entire sense of self. 💔

In the quiet moments - hands wrapped around a warm drink, trying to steady your breathing - everything feeling unfamiliar.

You might feel:

❤️‍🩹Completely overwhelmed, like you’re barely holding things together
❤️‍🩹As if you can’t cope without them, or can’t imagine life moving forward
❤️‍🩹Your self-identity crumbling, unsure who you are now
❤️‍🩹A rollercoaster of emotions -heartbreak, anger, confusion, numbness
❤️‍🩹Struggling to eat, sleep, function or think clearly

If this is you please know these reactions are normal.
Your heart is grieving. Your mind is trying to understand a life that suddenly looks different.

🌿You are not broken - you are hurting.
And with support, gentleness, and time, you can find your footing again and rediscover who you are beyond the relationship.

If you’re struggling after a relationship breakdown, you don’t have to go through it alone.

🎄We couldn’t resist bringing a little sparkle into our centre …truthfully, our tree has been up for a bit already ✨👀

There’s something about the soft lights and cosy glow that makes the space feel even more welcoming at this time of year.

We love it - the warmth, the calm, the little lift it brings to everyone who walks through the door.

But we need the official verdict …
Is it too early for our tree?
