We had a fantastic time at Carisbrooke Manor over the weekend, and our residents were certainly surprised when our very vibrant visitor arrived to hand out the chocolate treats! It was a brilliant talking point and brought a huge amount of colour and laughter to the lounge.

To finish the celebrations in style, we headed over to our sister home, Ascot House, for the big joint Easter party. It was lovely to catch up with familiar faces from across the homes and see all the incredible work that went into the Easter bonnets this year. Sadly, we didn't win the inter-Home bonnet competition but we're still incredibly proud of our residents for their wonderful creation.

There is nothing quite like a Carisbrooke Manor Easter celebration, and seeing the joy on everyone’s faces as our stripey guest made their rounds was the absolute highlight of the spring so far.

The energy at Ascot House was fantastic this weekend, it was a proper Easter celebration from start to finish!

We were delighted to be joined by a wonderful singer who really got the lounge buzzing. It was lovely to see so many of our residents singing along to their favourite tunes and even having a bit of a dance. The atmosphere was made even better with a few glasses of fizz and a visit from the Easter Bunny, who made sure everyone had a chocolate egg to enjoy.

It was also a real pleasure to host the teams from our sister homes for our big joint party and the inter-house bonnet competition. The creativity on display was incredible, and while the judging was a difficult task, a huge well done goes to our friends at Balmoral House for taking home the trophy for the best bonnet this year!

Thanks to everyone who came to the party and the team who organised it. The music and the laughter were still echoing in the lounge long after the Easter Bunny had hopped off! It really was the perfect way to welcome the spring together.

Easter joy at Balmoral House!

What a brilliant weekend we had celebrating Easter. Things kicked off with a very special visit from the Easter Bunny, who arrived with a basket full of eggs and plenty of smiles for our residents.

There was a lot of focus on our creative session as everyone worked hard on their Easter bonnets. We also enjoyed a fantastic party featuring a mountain of sweet treats and a superb Simnel cake baked by our very own Chef Lorna.

To top it all off, we joined our friends at our sister home, Ascot House, for a grand finale party. We are very proud to share that Balmoral House won the inter-house trophy for the best bonnet (see the pictures)! It was a closely fought competition, but our residents' hard work really paid off.

A big thank you to the staff and residents for making the weekend so special.

Hola! The Ascot House ‘Around the World’ tour has landed in Mexico! 🇲🇽

For our latest global adventure, our residents chose to head to Mexico, and what a vibrant day it was! The lounge was completely transformed with colourful bunting and wall hangings. We even had an inflatable cactus join us for the afternoon!

Our kitchen team really pulled out all the stops with a full Mexican feast. We enjoyed everything from Chilli Burritos and Nachos to Salsa smothered chicken, followed by some traditional Churros and Arroz con Leche for pudding. It’s safe to say nobody went away hungry!

We really enjoyed seeing everyone get into the spirit of things. Between the inflatable hats and our "peep-through" photo board, we discovered some very convincing Mexican guitarists and dancers among our residents and staff! It was a proper fiesta from start to finish, so thank you to everyone involved.

A taste of the Continent at Balmoral House! 🇫🇷

We decided to bring a little French flair to the Home this week, and the lounge was looking absolutely brilliant with its themed décor. Not only did the lounge get a makeover, our staff and residents looked the part too, with some fantastic outfits for the occasion!

The highlight for many was the chance to sample some authentic French treats. We spent the afternoon enjoying a selection of saucissons sec and light génoises, all perfectly complemented by a glass of French wine. It was a lovely, relaxed atmosphere with plenty of good conversation and a real sense of togetherness.

A huge thank you to the team for putting so much effort into the decorations and the menu. It was a wonderful way to spend the day.

It’s back to the classroom for the team at Carisbrooke Manor!

We’ve got a busy few weeks ahead with several training sessions focused on pressure area care and continence support. It’s a great opportunity for our staff to get stuck in, further their skills, and ensure our levels of care stay exactly where they should be for everyone who lives with us. Keeping up with the latest developments is a big part of life here.

A big thank you to the NLAG community pressure prevention, bladder and bowel team for sharing their expertise with us. We really value the support and the chance to keep our team’s knowledge moving forward!

A look back at our St Patrick’s Day celebrations! ☘️

We had a wonderful celebration last week as we marked St Patrick’s Day at Ascot House. Marlene led a fantastic sing-along that had everyone in high spirits, and it wasn’t long before the lounge turned into a dance floor with both staff and residents getting involved!

We even discovered a few hidden stars in our midst, as a couple of our residents took to the mic to show us how it’s done. A drop of the ‘black stuff’ was enjoyed by many (hats and all!), making for a very merry atmosphere. It felt like a grand day out without even leaving the lounge. Such fun!

A little look back at a wonderful Mother’s Day afternoon at Balmoral House.

We enjoyed a proper afternoon tea with all the trimmings: sandwiches, scones, cakes, and even some macaroons. There was plenty of tea and, of course, some bubbles to go around as our residents spent time catching up with their families. We loved it!

A big thank you to our kitchen team for putting on such a lovely spread for everyone to enjoy.

Spring is officially in the air!

There was a bit of a road trip for our Ascot House and Balmoral House communities this week, as we made our way over to Brigg Garden Centre.

Our residents had a great time picking out a beautiful selection of flowers and plants to brighten up our own gardens back at the Homes. We can’t wait to get these planted and see them in full bloom soon!

And of course, no garden centre visit is complete without a spot of lunch and a good old catch-up in the café. We loved it!

A massive thank you to John Leggott College for providing the transport for our trip. We really appreciate the support and it made the whole day possible.

A splash of colour and a taste of the East at Balmoral House!

Tuesday marked the Lantern Festival, the grand finale of Chinese New Year, so we’ve been making sure to go out with a bit of a bang!

Our residents have been busy with all sorts of bits and bobs, from the concentration needed to colour in traditional dragons to diving into some fascinating books about China.

We even had a bit of a dress-up session with traditional hats and fans (as you can see, we have some real naturals in front of the camera!) before trying out some delicious noodles.

It’s been a lovely way to learn something new and really brighten up the lounge. Take a look at some of our favourite moments here.

There’s nothing quite like a waggy tail to brighten the day.

We had a very special visitor at Carisbrooke Manor recently: the lovely Elliot. He quickly became the star of the lounge, making his way around for plenty of treats and even more tickles behind the ears.

Our residents and our team loved the chance for a bit of fuss and company from a four-legged friend. Thank you for coming to see us, Elliot, you certainly brought the smiles.

You’re welcome back any time...
