🪖 Supporting Our Veterans as March Approaches

As March draws closer, we want to once again show our support for the military community.

This year, Gary Drane, who is ex-military, will be taking part in The Great Tommy Sleep Out for the third year running, and we are proud to share that Simon Tay will now be joining him.

Both Gary and Simon will spend the night outdoors with only a sleeping bag to help raise awareness and funds for veterans facing homelessness across the UK.

All money raised supports the vital work of Royal British Legion Industries, helping to provide housing, mental health support, employment opportunities and a strong community for those who have served.

If you are able to donate even £1, it would make a real difference.

We have been entrusted with the arrangements for the funeral of Dean Bolton MBE of Eyewatch Fire & Security, a much loved and widely respected man who will be deeply missed by many.

The service will take place at Woodlands Crematorium, Scunthorpe, on Friday 16 January 2026 at 12 noon, followed by interment at Woodlands Memorial Park.

Family flowers only please. Donations in Dean’s memory are gratefully accepted and will be shared between Jerry Green Dog Rescue and Kidney Cancer UK

On behalf of Ashby Funeral Care, we extend our sincere condolences to Dean’s family, friends and all those whose lives he touched.

It is with great sadness that we announce that Dean Bolton M.B.E passed away peacefully in Hull Royal Infirmary at 7.30pm on Tuesday the 9th of December 2025 following complication after his kidney surgery.

Loving husband to Patricia, special son-in-law to Lesley & Alan, Richard and the late Jean. Dean was a great friend to many and will be missed by all, especially Brodie & Otto.

Would friends please meet at Woodlands Crematorium, Scunthorpe on Friday the 16th of January 2026 at 12 noon for a service followed by interment in Woodlands Memorial Park.

🌿 A Post Worth Sharing Again as We Head into 2026

During the Christmas period, we were sent a link that made us aware Alfie’s story had been featured in the national press, including the Daily Mirror. We did not realise at the time, but felt it was a positive moment worth sharing again.

Earlier in 2025, Alfie arranged and conducted his first funeral at just 16 years old after six months of training at Ashby Funeral Care. The family specifically asked for his involvement, and under close supervision, he carried out his role with care, dignity and professionalism beyond his years.

As we move into 2026, we remain proud of our team and committed to compassionate, professional care for every family we support.

Alfie Taylor has become Britain's youngest funeral director aged just 16 after joining his uncle's business just months after completing his GCSEs - and he has no plans to quit any time soon.

Today was a reminder of what this profession is truly about, particularly at this time of year.

Within our profession, there are moments when demand is high and emotions are heavier than ever. In the days leading up to Christmas, this is felt even more by the families we serve. It is in these moments that we come together, not as competitors, but as colleagues united by care, respect and responsibility.
