PRESS RELEASE

Parents-to-be in Scunthorpe are invited to the ‘Nest and Nurture’ Event

Maternity staff in Scunthorpe are gearing up for a new ‘Nest and Nurture’ event helping new parents prepare for the birth of their baby.
Nest and Nurture event will take place at the Antenatal Clinic on the ground floor of Scunthorpe General Hospital, at the Church Lane entrance, tomorrow (November 6th) from 7pm to 8:30pm. No need to book.

Community midwives, experts in labour and delivery and the Maternity and Neonatal Voices Partnership will be at the event to provide information on everything from healthy pregnancies, infant feeding and safer sleeping techniques to keeping active during pregnancy and having a great birth experience.

Family specialists will also be there to explain family hubs and 0-19 services and mental health experts will explain the importance of looking after your own wellbeing before and after the baby is born. You’ll also be able to get vaccinated to protect your baby against serious illnesses like whooping cough and RSV in those first few months of life.

Claire Brothwell, Matron in Maternity Services at Scunthorpe General Hospital, said “We’ll have representatives from lots of different services, covering all aspects of pregnancy, birth and those crucial first weeks of life and our staff will be happy to answer any questions you might have.

“You can come on your own or bring your partner or friend – you’ll be made really welcome by our staff from the moment you walk through the door.”

The Nest and Nurture event will take place in the Antenatal Clinic on the ground floor of Scunthorpe General Hospital, at the Church Lane entrance, on Thursday, 6 November, from 7pm to 8.30pm. There’s no need to book
