🌟 Exciting news from Scunthorpe Community Diagnostic Centre! 🌟

We’re growing our services to support even more people in our community 💙

👂 New audiology clinics are launching soon
🦷 Plus, our Community Dental Service is moving into the centre!

These updates were shared during a recent visit from North Lincolnshire councillors, who toured the £22 million Lindum Street site. Between April and November alone, an incredible 32,493 patients came through our doors 🙌

Located right in the heart of Scunthorpe — close to buses, shops, cafés and convenient parking — the centre already offers a wide range of tests, including:

• Cardio‑respiratory 💓
• Blood tests 💉
• X‑ray
• Non‑obstetric ultrasound 🖥️
• CT scans 🧠

And we’re not stopping there. With new services coming online next month, we’re ready to welcome even more patients.

Our teams shared just how exciting this next chapter is:

✨ Audiology services are expanding, with extra clinics and a newly recruited Audiologist. Appointments currently run Monday–Friday, 8am–5.30pm, with plans to extend to 12‑hour days, seven days a week.

✨ The Community Dental Service now has a second home at the CDC, alongside the Ironstone Centre — helping patients be seen more quickly.

✨ Patients tell us they love the bright, airy building, easy parking, and fast appointments — sometimes in as little as 15 minutes from arrival to completion.

Remember: while you’ll need a GP referral for diagnostic tests, you can request to be referred to the CDC instead of the hospital if you’re over 18 and able to stand independently or get on and off an examination couch without the use of a hoist.

Councillors visiting the centre described it as modern, spacious and relaxing — a fantastic asset for our community 🏥💫

Had a great experience with us? We want to hear about it! Nominations are open for the Healthcare Heroes Award.
This award gives patients and their families the opportunity to tell us about their NHS heroes, the people who made a real difference at their time of need, improved their experience and created a lasting positive impact.
So if you know someone who oozes compassion why not nominate today!?
The Healthcare Heroes award is just one category at Golden Stars, our annual staff awards ceremony.

We can’t actually believe we’re saying this but last night one of our nurses had eggs thrown at her as she walked through the grounds of Grimsby Hospital.
It’s the latest in a number of incidents over the last couple of weeks, where staff have come back to their cars after a long shift, only to find they’ve been pelted with eggs.
The nurse, who we’re choosing not to name, said she was “shocked and shaken” by the incident.
She added: “I was walking to the main hospital building when two cyclists came suddenly from behind the road near the bus stop and threw eggs at me. They rode away very fast before I could take any action.
“It was shocking and left me feeling shaken.”
Our Security teams are working with Humberside Police to try and trace those responsible and the police have pledged to increase patrols in the area.
If you have any information about the incident, please share it with the local policing team.

✨ New way to manage your hospital appointments! ✨

We’re rolling out a patient-led booking service through our upgraded Patient Portal – giving you the power to choose the time, date, and even location of your appointment, all from your mobile or tablet.

📲 If eligible, you’ll receive a text from 07860 039092 with a secure link to the portal. From there, simply pick the hospital most convenient for you, select from available slots, and confirm instantly. No more waiting on the phone or receiving letters for appointments you can’t attend!

This update also means:

🔵Quick notifications about changes, like clinic locations or earlier slots

🔵Easy yes/no responses to confirm attendance, helping reduce waiting times

🔵A smoother, more flexible experience that fits into your daily life

Andy Haywood, Group Chief Strategy, Partnerships and Digital Officer, says:

“Our new patient-led booking service will transform the way patients interact with their care.”

Currently piloting at Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, with rollout planned for Northern Lincolnshire and Goole NHS Foundation Trust soon.
