🦋 O v e r t h i n k i n g 🦋

Do you let your thoughts run away with you?
Do your thoughts often turn towards the negative?
Do you find it hard to fall asleep at night only to wake up with your mind racing?
Do your thoughts skip to the worst case scenario?
Do you struggle to keep things in perspective?
Is your energy zapped because you are constantly thinking of what might go wrong?

Do any of these resonate with you?

Many of us find our thoughts running away with us at times, however it is when it’s happening more often than not that it becomes a problem. This becomes a habitual way of thinking and you find yourself in a vicious circle.

Solution Focused Hypnotherapy is a great way of redirecting these negative, overthinking thoughts by breaking the habit. This in turn helps you to feel calmer, more confident and back in control where you are able to move forward in a more positive way and become that best version of you.

🦋 Saying Yes 🦋

I cannot believe that i am still sea swimming. Not only is it nearly the end of November (it’s definitely dropping rapidly in temperature now), but that I have been pretty much every week now for 14 months.

Something one of my clients wants to do more of this week is to say yes to opportunities when they come their way. I thought this was such a wonderful goal they elicited in the goal setting part of their session.

I often reflect after my clients sessions and after this particular session i thought of how long i had said no to sea swimming for various reasons.

🦋It’s too cold.
🦋I don’t have the time.
🦋I can’t even get in the sea in the Summer.
🦋I’ll have to wear a swimming costume.

All of these excuses had ultimately got in my way of me saying yes to something that I knew deep down I would enjoy.

Well, here I am 14 months in and I’m absolutely loving it and it really does make me feel so good.

I think what is important to note is that we should not beat ourselves up for not saying yes sooner to opportunities.
It would have been the right decision at the time and we cannot go back and change it. What we can do is say yes from here on in and see where it leads us.

What have you said yes to recently?

🦋 I n t e r n a t i o n a l M e n ‘s D a y 🦋

One of the pillars of International Men’s Day this year is to focus on men’s health and wellbeing.

I am so incredibly proud to share with you that in my private practise, i am currently supporting an equal share of men and women.

I remember when i first qualified 5.5 years ago it was quite rare to have a man reach out to me for therapy. Fast forward to the present day and that has positively changed.

This shows that there is change. I feel so grateful that both men and women feel they can reach out to me to support them and i will always be a huge advocate of normalising therapy for all.

What a beautiful crisp, clear morning.

Changing how you see things first thing will help determine the course of your day.

I could have looked out the window this morning and thought how cold it was and that I’ll have to de-ice the car. However we get to choose our thoughts. I choose to think how beautiful it looks as the sun was coming up and the white frost on top of, The Cabin.

Remember to choose your thoughts with care. By seeking out the good your day will flow better, you will cope better with any challenges and therefore just feel happier.

Let me know how you started your day with some positive thoughts.

H o w W o n d e r f u l ✨

As I have been out and about these last few days I have noticed a few houses have already put their Christmas decorations up. I thought to myself, ‘That’s early’ but quickly thought how lovely it was that they were up and how Christmassy the houses and gardens looked.

Today, I saw this by the very talented Donna Ashworth and it beautifully reads what I was thinking.

Life is tricky for many right now in different ways, so let people do themselves, let them create joy, to seize the moment and bring some happiness into their lives however they see fit.

I’m now thinking of when I can put my Christmas decorations up!

As you go about your week, remember this ~

In a world where you can be anything, choose kind, you never know what people are going through.

“They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them.”

On the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, we will remember them.

Thinking of those who fought and gave their lives.

🦋 C o n n e c t i o n 🦋

Connection is one of the most powerful ingredients for our mental wellbeing.

This little sea dip with two of my friends reminded me just how much being around people we care about can lift our mood. Whether we’re talking, laughing, or just sharing an experience side by side, these moments release oxytocin , often called the “bonding hormone.” It helps lower stress, calm our nervous system, and boost those positive feelings that make life feel lighter.

We don’t always need to talk things through or find big solutions, sometimes, it’s simply about being together.

So whether it’s a walk, a coffee, or a sea dip, try to make time for connection this week. It really does make a difference.

🦋 I t ‘ s O k T o S t u m b l e 🦋

In a session this week with a client we talked about how far they had come in a week. In their last session they had had a little set back, a stumble. This happens, it’s a part of life.

It certainly hadn’t undone the amazing progress they had made up to that point.

We must remember that progress will not be linear, and that if you do take a stumble, it’s ok. Accept it, reflect on it, get back up, dust yourself down, don’t beat yourself up and take steps to keep moving forward.

What my client recognised is how far they had come since their stumble, that it had helped to build their confidence in themself and know that when it happens again, they will be ok.

🌊 T h e S e a 🌊

It was my Sauna and Sea day today. I do really love it.

There is a lot of scientific evidence about the positive impact on our mental health and spending time at the beach.

The pre-frontal cortex, an area of the brain that is associated with our emotions and self-reflection, amongst other things, has proved to be engaged when we listen to the sounds of the sea. It has to be one of favourite sounds. I just love listening to the power of the waves, as they break on the shore and the shingle dances around as the waves drag back.

The feeling of peace we experience at the seafront creates a beautiful balance within us. It helps to lower our stress hormone levels, cortisol and creates serotonin the neurotransmitter related to our mood and lowering our levels of stress.

This sense of calm and us listening to the sounds of the waves at the beach is super important to our overall sense of health and wellbeing.

Neuroscientists also say that the flat nature of the sea gives us a sense of security and safety. We get this feeling of safety when we are in places that are not complex. So when we look out to sea, our brain recognises it as ia stable environment, clever huh?!!
