🦋 W o r l d M e n t a l H e a l t h D a y 🦋

It was my mental health journey that led me to do a job I love.

It was whilst trying for our son that I started to feel highly anxious. I had been told I was infertile, however after a miracle we found out that we were expecting and I felt this was my only shot at being a mummy, there was a lot of pressure. Following my sons traumatic birth he was taken seriously ill. The whole experience left me suffering with several mental health issues including anxiety, this became part of my life for the next 7 years. I was struggling, I was forming very unhelpful habits, I felt broken, stuck and desperate to move forward.

I tried different types of therapy and found going over the traumatic event involving my son was too painful and I was reliving my emotions in each session which was mentally and physically draining. I knew I had to move forward as I couldn’t change what had happened and I needed to let go and stop it impacting my daily life. It is this journey that fuelled my passion to help others further and which led me to train as a Solution Focused Hypnotherapist.

I had solution focused hypnotherapy myself and it has helped me so much. I am aware of what triggers me and I am able to be calmer and cope better when my triggers arise, navigating my emotions better, finding solutions and keeping my thoughts in check. I don’t always get it right, I am not perfect but I am able to regain control and make the right decisions that help me navigate the situation.

Did you know that 1 in 4 people will experience a mental health problem of some kind in England in year.
1 in 5 report experiencing a common mental health problem, like anxiety or depression in any given week.
About 1 in 5 children or young people aged 8-25 will have a probable mental health problem.

Mental health matters. It’s okay to ask for help, no matter what you’re going through.

I did it and I am so thankful that I did.

I took a moment this evening to watch the sunset and what a beautiful reminder it was of how nature supports our wellbeing.

That warm golden light at the end of the day isn’t just lovely to look at, it actually helps regulate your circadian rhythm (your body’s natural sleep–wake cycle).

As daylight fades, your brain starts to release melatonin, preparing you for rest. Watching the sunset helps your body recognise that shift, calming the mind, lowering stress hormones, and gently guiding you towards a better night’s sleep.

Moments like this remind us that simple habits, like stepping outside, slowing down, and reconnecting with nature, really can have a powerful impact on our mood and energy levels.

Sometimes wellbeing begins with something as simple as watching the sky change colour.

Masking how your feeling on the inside takes an awful lot of energy, being in a constant state of red alert is exhausting. The dread that sweeps over you each morning when you wake up sensing that you still have that anxious feeling in the pit of your stomach (whilst hoping that one day you will wake up and just feel ok). Can you relate to this or the illustration?

I know people, even some friends who say they didn’t have a clue that I was struggling as I would always be smiling, chatty and positive, yet inside I was a mess. I didn’t want people to know as I was scared of being judged or deemed a failure. I wanted people to see that I was a good mummy who was on top of everything. But I was emotionally broken, stuck in the past unable to move forward and find the joy in every day.

This is why it’s important to reach out and get some help. Living like this is not a good place to be. It’s highly unlikely that, without help, you won’t wake up one morning and feel ok.

If you’ve been feeling anxious or not quite right for a while now and your normal, go-to techniques are just not working, please do get in contact and find out how I can help you regain control, rid those feelings of anxiety on a daily basis, feel happier, more positive and enjoying each day as you should.

I’m just a click away.

🦋 T i n y N o t i c e a b l e T h i n g s 🦋

I was chatting to one of my friends this morning who has embarked on an exercise regime. I asked her how she was feeling now that she was exercising more. She said that her legs were feeling stronger and she noticed her energy levels have increased in the mornings. She’s doing so incredibly well!

As the day went on I kept thinking of our conversation. I say a lot to my clients about noticing the small things we achieve. Any new challenge we take on, physical or mental is a marathon not a sprint.

If we were to go from zero to 100mph we wouldn’t sustain that level of improvement and that is the reason why it’s important to set small, achievable goals or tiny noticeable things.

This is something that you can translate to anything. A physical journey is about slowly building your strength, resilience or your pace.

From a therapy point of view, I use this thinking with all my clients, whether you need help with:

🦋 Anxiety
🦋 Depression
🦋 Weight loss
🦋 Sports Performance
🦋 Confidence Building
🦋 Body Image
🦋 Reducing Stress Levels
🦋 Migraines/IBS
🦋 Dealing with Loss or Grief
🦋 Motivation
🦋 Increasing Self Esteem
🦋 Improving Sleep
🦋…..and so many more

By setting these small, achievable goals you will recognise small, positive changes in your life. In turn your confidence grows, you are then inclined to keep trying and therefore, moving forward and taking control.

In a nutshell, there will never be a right time!

You will always find a reason why you can't reach out for help, be it time, money or something else. You will probably find that something else pops up in your life that appears to take priority, we are good at putting ourselves to the bottom of the pile!!

All I would say, is that if you have been wanting to do it for a while or you have been following my page, then you just need to go for it. People often say to me they wish they had reached out sooner.

I have listed a few things that suggest you are ready to take that first step:

🦋 You feel now is the time to make some changes and put yourself first.

🦋 You feel like the way you are feeling is having a detrimental effect on your day to day life.

🦋 You need some time and space just for you.

🦋 You are ready to work on your general well-being.

So, you maybe wondering how you take the first step and get started.

❤️ L o v e ❤️

Today my man and I celebrate 15 years of marriage.

Having this man by my side, holding my hand and holding my heart has got me through the highs and lows of life, I feel so incredibly blessed to have him in my life.

He is such a huge support of me in everything that I do. I remember when I told him I wanted to be a Hypnotherapist, to build my own business and to help others, he agreed 100% and with his unwavering support, I am fortunate to now do a job that I love.

So today we celebrate all that we are and all that we will be as we continue this journey together ❤️

“Let’s practice going to therapy with the
intention of wellness, not just when you’re in
crisis. Therapy is a space to learn more about
yourself, your relationships, and how your life
experiences impact you. You can go to therapy
without having a major life problem and with
the intention of growth, remaining productive,
and just to talk to a neutral party.”

I was sent this by one of my clients and it rings so true.

Most people will always seek my help when they are suffering with their mental well-being. They know I can support and guide them, helping them to make positive changes in their life and move forward.

Therapy should also be something to consider if your looking to find better balance and flow and to give time to your wellness. Maybe needing to improve your performance in a certain area.

It’s good to look at therapy from different angles.

🦋 Sunday Planning 🦋

Having a gentle plan for the week ahead helps you to feel a sense of calm and control. As I sat down with my diary a short while ago, Bailey our Cocker Spaniel, clearly had other ideas and wanted snuggles.

I always spend time planning my week on a Sunday evening. I like to keep it relatively simple and not plan too much so that I get some down time:

🦋 I send out Zoom invites to my clients, I offer both online and face to face sessions to my clients.
🦋 I plan my exercise for the week, this is non-negotiable!
🦋Any family commitments go in my diary.
🦋 Lastly, anything else like seeing family and friends.

What is important is that there is a degree of flexibility, this is key so that you don’t go into a spin if something crops up or your plans have to change.

Do you spend time planning your week?
What works for you?
How do you plan?
