Monday views not blues 💕

The end of the school holidays is always a bittersweet affair. I read today that we spend 75% of our time with our children before the age of 12. Isn’t that crazy?

I spend most of the holidays juggling and maybe never ever being fully present. In a previous life my job role involved me always being one step ahead and I slip back into that way of thinking. It’s frustrating. I teach mindfulness, being present with breath and body and yet when there’s more to do, I revert straight back to that old person. Striving for perfection. Feeling guilty because I’ve spent the day gardening rather than playing with the children.

This is not a parenting account, I do not post photos of my family life but I like to remind you all that your yoga teacher is still working on herself. Today will be about resetting. I could clean the house, do the mammoth list of chores. But instead, I’m getting on my mat. Reconnecting with nature with a walk on the South Downs and a sea swim. All of which I have neglected these last two weeks.

Come and join me for yoga this week; as a community we uplift and cement our place here on this Earth. The next course only runs for 5 weeks before I take 12 beautiful ladies off to Ithaca for our retreat. Life is busy, but make that time for pure reconnection on a weekly basis. If you don’t schedule it in, you know full well something else will come along and take that time away from you. Because everything works better after you’ve unplugged for a little while.

Happy Easter from me to you 💕Wishing you all a very happy bank holiday Easter weekend. I’m so grateful to you all, thank...

Those moments of connection, of laughter and knowing deep in my soul I’ve created that opportunity for you to leave everything else at the door is why I do what I do.

Weekly classes are the backbone of our yoga community. They offer a chance to ignore the never ending to do list and all the noise that the outside world has for you for just a short time. Inside a class, we laugh, we breathe, we move. We connect to each other and to ourselves.

In a world where you’re expected to be so much; a partner, a boss or colleague, a parent, school obligations, home chores… we’re the first generation that are told we can have it all and that’s slightly unrealistic. We must journey inwards, learn when to take that time for ourselves. Burnout is real and stress is at an all time high.

Yoga is being forgotten about. A regular class reminds you to learn and tune into how your body and mind is feeling. A home based practice can offer you this but usually it is met with quite a few distractions. If you don’t have pets or children, try practicing yoga in your bedroom… you’ll be surprised how many cleaning chores you’ll find when you’re in a downward dog!

My regular classes are for you. I ask you what you need and we focus on creating space, breathing into those areas where the energy is stuck and we feel lethargic and stiff. It’s powerful, it’s enjoyable, it’s a life choice but above all else it’s a practice. A practice we keep coming back to because we live in this body and mind. We need it to keep working for us. It’s so easy to forget about a regular maintenance practice when life is so busy and expensive but this is the time you need it the most. Before you become overwhelmed, stressed, burnt out, stiff and attribute those aches and pains with age.

Because until you practice regularly you have no idea how wonderful you can feel. But you need to keep showing up. I will be here in Berwick holding a warm, welcoming space for you.. it’s up to you to want to join a wonderful group and embrace the benefits of yoga.

Full timetable is on my website kellysladeyoga.com

I hope to see you in a class soon 💕

Monday views not blues 💕

Happy international women’s day to all of you wonderful ladies out there for yesterday. My hope is you appreciate what has led you to this moment where you can pause and be thankful for everything.

I spend a lot of time on my own. It’s because for years before I really avoided it so now I feel I’m playing catch up! True presence and leaning in to what I’m feeling has been a learned experience.

I feel the pull and the noise around me. I feel yoga teachers are being asked to diversify to find their worth in a new busyness and intentions around us. The busyness has always been there but now the focus is strength training and results focused movement.

Yoga works differently, it always has. We as yoga teachers do not need to dress it up or roll it in glitter. For me, (and I really don’t want to offend anyone) this isn’t yoga. A new fad makes more noise and it’s a distraction from leaning in and recognising the signs when we’re headed to burn out or illness. Interoception is the key to long life and prevention of dis-ease in the body and mind.

Not filling it with a different ‘things’ to distract you from your life. You don’t need a reason to practice yoga, you don’t need to tick it off on your to do list. It needs to be a part of your life. It’s maintenance, it’s stillness, it’s progress and most of all it simply makes you a better person in all areas of your life.

Come and practice yoga with me. It hasn’t changed, but I am constantly evolving. But what I have learned is; I don’t need something new. With chaos all around me, I need to keep coming home to my body and mind.

See you on the mat this week my yogis. With love and light always 💕

Yoga classes in Berwick 💕

Yoga is about connection. About uniting body and mind. It asks of you to tune in and respond. What can nourish you in one season can deplete you in another.

We are on the conveyor belt of life, many do not live life with the seasons. Many can not. Maybe you’re holding on so tightly that you feel heavy and lethargic. You simply do not have the time or energy to add something else on your to do list.

There’s a saying ‘yoga doesn’t take time, it gives time’ by Ganga White. It does require commitment; yes. But that’s showing up for yourself, making yourself a priority. It provides mental clarity and motivation. You create focus and balance inside when your outside world might be spinning.

We all need yoga. We need that welcoming space. A yoga class environment is something so very special, you have to experience it to believe it.

These classes run for 5 weeks as a course booking. This asks of you to commit to you and the space you need. I’m not promising rapid body transformation. But your mind will. And then the body will adapt. Less stress means your body will change. I am leaner, stronger and healthier for practising yoga.

Yoga also helps me to show up in other areas of my life. When I was training for Ultras (walking), yoga helped me recover. I was comfortable with spending extended periods with myself training. When I took up running, yoga complemented that. Lifting weights, I can ensure my mobility remains. I recover quicker, I’m calmer and less prone to injury, I’m more receptive to rest days because I’ve learnt how important they are.

All through yoga. It’s a journey. But one I’m never ending because the view from here is just wonderful 💕. It’s ever evolving, as am I.

Visit the website to book, I have no idea why you’ve waited this long… but it’s never too late.

Today we welcome the year of the fire horse.

I lean into what I’m feeling energetically and emotionally. I have spent a lot of time getting to know myself so everything I do comes from a place of integrity and authenticity.

Sometimes I misjudge, hormones are sometimes throwing me off balance. But this past year especially I have pulled back to reconnect rather than be on that conveyor belt of offering just because that’s what I’ve always have done. Saying yes when I didn’t really want to. I know you many of you have felt the same.

Boundaries are important to me. My self care is non negotiable. I live this life to hopefully inspire you to do the same. If I am grounded when you visit me and my classes in Berwick, you will tap into my energy.

What is not welcome in my yoga family is trying to push my beliefs. Everything I do comes from a kind place and recently this has been challenged. A level of toxicity has arisen and I’ve leant into how this makes me spiral. Spiral into uncertainty of whether I am still on the right path. It can be quite painful how one person out of hundreds can make you feel so doubtful of yourself isn’t it?

My ask of you; my yoga family is to think twice before you allow these people to doubt your self worth. You all have one. The snake year was about shedding. For me it’s shedding that uncertainty. When I sit and meditate I am certain of my direction, of my thoughts and actions. My one and one focus whether it be in a regular class with me or a retreat, it to empower you. To know your worth so you can tune inwards and know what your boundaries are and that your actions come from a place of authenticity.

Thank you to those of you that show up for yourself. Thank you for continuing to practice self love and self care with me. It’s an honour to know you and I appreciate you more than you know.

I offer regular classes in Berwick if you’d like to join the most welcoming groups in Berwick. My 2026 is fully booked with the most incredible group of people but the 2027 retreat details will be released soon.

My next yoga Nidra meditation class is on Sunday 1 March 6-7pm.

Hope to see you soon, with love always. Kelly xx

Something exciting will be announced soon….

This is your sign to schedule in your time for rest and reconnection next year. Because we need to make sure we ring fence that time. Because life is busy and complicated. Because we need some notice to organise before we have that time for our self. Because if it’s in the calendar we have something to look forward to.

Bring a friend or family member. Or come on your own and make lasting friendships and memories. Come as you are and let me and my team look after you. Know you’ll be supported and nourished as you focus solely on you and your self care.

Are you coming? DM to be added to the waiting list or join my newsletter on my website. Further details will be released soon.

Monday views not blues 💕

We are made up of around 70% water depending on our age and how hydrated we are.

Water doesn’t sit still. It flows. We were never meant to move in a straight line. These current exercise regimes are asking of us to move in a linear pattern. They focus on muscle isolation, compound exercises which yes builds bulk and helps our muscles gain strength. This will keep our body strong for years to come. But what of our mobility? Our balance? We need to bend and fold and just like water; move around obstacles. My worry is if we move like a board we’ll end up as stiff as a board. There should be freedom in our movement, it should be non prescriptive and embodied. Because life isn’t linear, we zigzag, we learn how to adapt.

Come and flow with me this evening. And learn how free your body and mind is meant to feel.

‘Reshape yourself through the power of your will; never let yourself be degraded by self—will. The will is the only friend of the Self; and the will is the only enemy of the Self’. The Bhagavad Gita

Have you been wanting to start yoga or have lost a practice somewhere along the way? Life does get in our way, but we must carve out that time. Prioritise our self care and connection to Self.

Boundaries are what makes us strong, an inspiration for others and above all else actually happy. When you learn more about your Self and what you are capable of; your world will open up to new opportunities.

Yoga is one of the few practices that teaches you embodiment. You need to ground and root before you can grow. Which is why so many people enjoy a regular yoga practice. They recognise how much more able they are as they carry these lessons over to their day to day life. They are less anxious, more confident and can identify when situations do not leave them fulfilled.

Yoga is the only place where you are welcomed as you are. You don’t need to change. You need to breathe and learn what your body and mind is asking of you. And everyone has the potential to realise this power within.

New yoga courses are available to book on my website now. kellysladeyoga.com or click the link in the bio. I love to welcome new yogis into our Kula.

Questions I get asked a lot…

❓Did you used to be a dancer?
I know may yoga and Pilates teachers come to yoga from a dance background but no, that’s not me. I can certainly through some embarrassing shapes on the dance floor and according to my tween daughter can be very cringy worthy!

❓You’re so good at yoga, were you always flexible?
Before I rant I will answer the question. Yes I’ve always been flexible ish.
However ‘being good’ at yoga… I’m not too sure what that means. Being ‘good’ means having body awareness, proprioception, learning how my body and mind need to adapt the pose to work for me, having dedication to keep turning up on my mat when a million other excuses get in the way. So yes, maybe I am good at yoga but that’s taken years of practice. No one rocks up to a yoga class and is ‘good’ at it in the beginning. That’s your perception of wha the pose should look like rather than how it feels. That’s embodiment, that’s yoga.

❓How many years have you practiced yoga?

I found yoga in London in my twenties (twenty plus years ago). I hated it. The teacher didn’t resonate with me. I tried hot yoga and some chanting style of yoga which didn’t fit me at the time.
I only started practicing regularly around 10 years ago after finding a cd video of a teacher that taught vinyasa flow. I practised at home and eventually after a few attempts found a teacher I loved in person. But like with eveything I do, I immersed myself in it and practiced near daily.

❓Why did you decide to become a teacher?

Because I found space, clarity, connection and an understanding about myself I never Kew could be possible. And I need to share this information!

Any more questions you have? Let me know ⬇️

This is my focus for 2026 💕

The Parable of the Mexican Fisherman
An American investment banker was at the pier of a small coastal Mexican village when a small boat with just one fisherman docked. Inside the small boat were several large yellowfin tuna. The American complimented the Mexican on the quality of his fish and asked how long it took to catch them.
The Mexican replied, “only a little while.”
The American then asked why didn’t he stay out longer and catch more fish?
The Mexican said he had enough to support his family’s immediate needs.
The American then asked, “but what do you do with the rest of your time?”
The Mexican fisherman said, “I sleep late, fish a little, play with my children, take siestas with my wife, Maria, and stroll into the village each evening where I sip wine, and play guitar with my amigos. I have a full and busy life.”
The American scoffed. “I have an MBA from Harvard, and can help you,” he said. “You should spend more time fishing, and with the proceeds, buy a bigger boat. With the proceeds from the bigger boat, you could buy several boats, and eventually you would have a fleet of fishing boats. Instead of selling your catch to a middle-man, you could sell directly to the processor, eventually opening up your own cannery. You could control the product, processing, and distribution,” he said. “Of course, you would need to leave this small coastal fishing village and move to Mexico City, then Los Angeles, and eventually to New York City, where you will run your expanding enterprise.”
The Mexican fisherman asked, “But, how long will this all take?”
To which the American replied, “Oh, 15 to 20 years or so.”
“But what then?” asked the Mexican.
The American laughed and said, “That’s the best part. When the time was right, you would announce an IPO, and sell your company stock to the public and become very rich. You would make millions!”
“Millions – then what?”
The American said, “Then you could retire. Move to a small coastal fishing village where you could sleep late, fish a little, play with your kids, take siestas with your wife, and stroll to the village in the evenings where you could sip wine and play guitar with your amigos.”
