We would like to say a HUGE congratulations to a member of the Southcare family - Maddie Browne! Maddie WAS our Senior Healthcare Assistant at Freshford Cottage but... we're proud to announce that on Friday 13th February, Maddie graduated as a qualified Registered Nurse!

Instead of attending her graduation in person, though, Maddie chose to spend time helping residents at our Rottingdean Nursing Home - Highbury House!

We could not let the day go unmarked and welcomed her to the nursing family by hosting our very own little graduation ceremony. Diana Midoschi, Home Manager at Freshford Cottage, came over from Seaford with cards and flowers and a bottle of bubbly! Chris Barber, Home Manager at Highbury House, presented a cut glass rose bowl from Southcare Homes, and Karim Nanji, Proprietor of Southcare Homes, was present to congratulate her on her achievement.

Maddie is our first nurse on the Associate Nurse Programme established in 2025 for newly qualified nurses. It helps them to establish and enhance their skills in adult social care. All of us in the Southcare family are so proud of this innovation and also very proud of Maddie!

Yesterday we celebrated Judy and Vineeth and their many years of wonderful service here at Freshford Cottage. What an incredible contribution they’ve both made — they’ll truly be missed by us all.

We want to wish them every bit of luck and happiness as they head off on their new adventures. Exciting times ahead!

It was also Vineeth’s birthday on the same day, so it was a double celebration! 🎉🎂

Thank you both for everything, and here’s to the next chapter! 💛

Painting is a very popular activity here at Freshford. Residents put all their focus and creativity in every painting they do, everyone is super proud of themselves when they see the finished product.
Its lovely to have such wonderful art displayed around the home 😀

To help us prepare the right amount of food, please RSVP by Monday at noon. This will give us a good idea of numbers and make sure there’s plenty for everyone to enjoy.

We’ve been having a great time and have put fun facts up around the home for everyone to enjoy.
👀 Keep an eye out we’ve also hidden 3 gems to be found, and there’s a prize waiting for the lucky finders! 💎🏆

Yesterday we celebrated 🇮🇳
We spent the morning traveling around India in our armchair travel. Residents absolutely loved the experience, making comments on how beautiful the country is. ❤
Some of the lady's done some beautiful colourful pictures for around the home.

Toby made some delicious home made Indian food for lunch.
Chicken curry with boiled rice and homemade samosa.
Vegetable Biryani
Punjab semolina halwa.

In the afternoon residents enjoyed a classic Bollywood film and a Indian picture quiz.

It was a fantastic day enjoyed by all!

What a fantastic time we had with Dementia Singing Experience, Sussex! We had a wonderful afternoon singing and dancing, all the songs were associated with different names. We had fun trying to guess the songs and their names. We cant thank you enough for another brilliant performance! We can not wait until next time 😁

Each month, every home in the Southcare Homes Group will be hosting a themed day based on a country.
This month Freshford will be hosting a day full of activities, food and experiences from INDIA.
Starting from 10.30AM on Thursday the 15th of January.
Everyone is welcome to come and join in and experience everything India 🇮🇳
