🏏1XI Result🏏

Today, our 1XI travelled to league leaders Brandon Cricket Club for a tough Division 1 clash.

We batted first but found it difficult going, being bowled out for 121 in the 36th over. Top scorer was Farooq Din with a steady 29.

In reply, Brandon chased down the total in the 25th over, losing just two wickets. Pasindu Thirimadura (1 for 35) and the returning Harry Morgan (1 for 39) were the wicket takers.

Brandon came away with an 8-wicket win — we wish them all the best for the remainder of the season.

🏏1XI Result🏏

Yesterday, our 1st XI welcomed South Shields to Green Drive. Batting first, Dawdon posted 158 all out in 37 overs. Standout performances with the bat came from Matty Billyard (49) and Passi Thirimadura (37).

For the visitors, Alex Thompson impressed with the ball, claiming 5 wickets for 45 runs.

In reply, South Shields were in early trouble at 49 for 5, but a brilliant match-winning partnership of 110 between Bayley Holman and Mark Appleton saw them over the line.

✅ South Shields won by 5 wickets.

🏏1XI Result🏏

Our 1st XI welcomed Ryhope to Green Drive today for a DNECL Division 1 clash.

Ryhope batted first and posted a solid 216/9 from their 45 overs, with contributions across the board and Paul Jenkin top scoring with 40. For Dawdon, standout bowlers were Lennon Richards (4/33) and Farooq Din (3/34), both putting in strong performances with the ball.

Unfortunately, our run chase never really got going, with Matty Billyard dismissed on just the second ball of the innings. Wickets fell steadily, as Ryhope’s opening bowlers Liam Stores (5/41) and Joe Defty (3/29) tore through the Dawdon batting lineup.

The only real fight came from young Keane Mitchell, who stepped in at short notice and impressed with a fearless 56 off just 30 balls, including 2 sixes and 8 boundaries. Despite his efforts, we were bowled out for 101, handing Ryhope a 115-run victory.

🏏1XI Result🏏

Our 1st XI returned to DNECL Division 1 action with an away fixture at Tudhoe. After a rain-delayed start, the match was reduced to 36 overs per side. Dawdon batted first and made a strong start with 61 for the opening wicket, setting the stage for a stunning innings from Pasindu Thirimadura, who smashed 116 from just 75 balls. Lee Jackson also chipped in with a valuable 45, helping Dawdon post a competitive total of 250 for 8.

In response, Tudhoe required just under 7 runs per over and got off to a great start with 94 for the first wicket. A superb unbeaten 89 from Andrew Carrick saw the hosts reach the target with just 2 balls to spare, sealing a 6-wicket win.

Steven Lee Merrington returned Dawdon’s best bowling figures with 2 for 55.
