A very positive meeting with Graeme from NAPPER, Tony from the Marina and a few folk from this group this morning to talk about the ramp and it’s potential impact for everyone and the area.
The feasibility study has now been formally commissioned.
A topographical survey will now be undertaken along with a pre-planning application as the first stages in the feasibility study. Updates will be made as they come in. It’s a long way to go yet but the process has started!

Hi everyone I have lits of bodyshop products and other items I'd like to put to good use. So I am looking at setting up a rolling number where as the proceeds would ho straight into the gofund me pot for the ramp. If anyone has any items they could donate to this it would be massively appreciated thank you. X

I have spoken to Lisa at the Harbour. They are in no way averse to installing a ramp. She is going to speak to the architect that drew up plans before and see if we can revisit those. The reasons that it was not installed five years ago were because of the engineering involved in building the ramp, the prohibitive cost, and the ongoing maintenance requirements.
This is Seaton in Devon and similar to what Mel was talking about last night.

There has been a flurry of messages and comments on the Seaham swimmers page about wanting to donate to fundraising pages. It’s fabulous that you guys are all so interested and supportive but we need to ensure we have the right permissions first. There is no point in fundraising if if we can’t get permission to install it! We also need to get various quotes for how much is actually going to cost. Rest assured there is work going on in the background to make sure this project gets completed.

I am alot stronger but still prone to falls ive hypermobility along side osteoarthritis fibromialgia, lipademia, and chronic asthmatic any of my health conditions put me at risk. However I'm a lot more fortunate than most with disabilities, as I can still navigate the steps. However I'm always mindful that I am putting my self at risk. I've faceplanted the sand a few times lately. I dread to imagine what it would have intailed if I was on the steps.
This is why my heart and sole is behind disabilities access. If not just fir myself but fir every single person, persons and families that would benefit from easier access onto the slop.
The coast line is vast however I've tried to navigate every possible access and I struggle massively.
The slope become has disabled car parking spaces and a shorter distance down on to the sand. If there was a ramp this would make the process alot more comfortable and less traumatic.
Once in the sea as I am a sea swimming im virtually pain free but out of the sea is where I struggle amd many beach users do.

I have seen families devided where as a
Family member or freind is sat watching above in a wheelchair or holding on to the railings, watching on as family and freinds enjoy the freedom of the beach.
