I have been seeing this sort of post on other Aesthetic pages and it really does resonate with me 🩷
I have been a Nurse since 1994, trained in Aesthetics in 2009,self funded my Nurse Prescribing in 2015 and became full time in Aesthetics in 2019 but am becoming quite bemused with what seems to be deemed 'normal'.
More and more, people are starting to believe that the “best” injectors are the ones they see the most....
The ones with the biggest followings.
The ones flying around the world.
The ones constantly on your screen, posting for viral status.
The ones constantly reminding you of how far they have come in their life.
And I can understand why.......
Because visibility creates familiarity?
And familiarity starts to feel like trust?
But in aesthetics, those two things are not automatically the same.......
Being well known on Instagram does not tell you how someone consults.
It does not tell you how carefully they assess your face.
It does not tell you how they manage complications.
It does not tell you whether they will say no.
It does not tell you how experienced someone is or even if they are medical or not.
Some of the most skilled, careful and experienced practitioners are not the most visible..........
They are in clinic.
Working quietly.
Building results slowly.
Putting safety before content.
And those are often the practitioners who will give you the most natural, considered outcomes.
Good aesthetics is not about being seen everywhere. It’s not about how many followers you have, or how viral your reel is............
I hardly follow any Aesthetic accounts because I love what I do and don't need to feel that is not enough, I am not seeking validation or posting things for the likes or shock factor or trying to act like some celebrity, because I am not, I am a Nurse.
I also like a complete break from 'the day job' so don't want a feed full of Aesthetics related posts, no jealousy, nothing nasty, just how I choose to be.
As a Nurse everything is about being truly accountable to every single patient I treat.
I feel proud that every patient I earned on my own, I don't have a content creator & I don't have another job to feed patients off.
So,for me I am totally relieved to see many others are posting this message and I am not alone in standing up for what is right for me.
