We had a busy weekend here at The Check House Care Home 👏

The wonderful activities team made a brilliant Autumn sensory tray 🍁

We played another fun home-made game, the Higher or Lower Game, with many residents joining in for some friendly and spirited competition 🏆

The residents also spent a relaxing time making some beautiful birthday cards for their friends ✒️

We had a great time making some spooky decorations for our upcoming Halloween party (watch this space for more details to follow) 🎃

And last, but certainly not least, we welcomed back our wonderful harpist Cheryl, who hasn't been in for a little while after injuring her wrist in the summer. We are delighted to have her back and are looking forward to her next performance in November 🎼

Today, 10th October, is World Mental Health Day.

Living with dementia, or supporting someone who is, can affect every part of our lives. It brings challenges that aren’t always visible, and that’s why looking after your mental health and wellbeing is so important.

On Sunday, we celebrated , with our very own "Check-tober Fest"! We enjoyed a fantastic pub afternoon, with plenty of snacks and different beers and ciders for us to try.

Oktoberfest is an annual beer festival which begins in the middle of September and finishes on the first Sunday in October.

Today is and to show our appreciation for all the incredible teachers at the residents have made a delightful gift hamper which was kindly delivered to the school by Pat.

Many of the staff and residents here at The Check House Care Home have a close connection with Seaton Primary School, perhaps even attending as pupils themselves.

Our next Memory Café is fast approaching! All are welcome to come along to The Check House Care Home from 11am on Monday 6th October for tea, coffee and homemade cakes. We regularly have relatives meetings where the families of our residents can get together to have a chat, ask questions and share any ideas. One of these ideas was to get together and have lunch!

Our care extends to the families of our residents, and we were privileged to host a few of our regular visitors at lunch this afternoon.
