Something we know a great deal about here at The Check House Care Home is how to do afternoon tea properly!

Last week was and we celebrated in style with an afternoon tea party every day!

We also had a tea-tasting class, with many different types of tea from all over the world, along with jam-tasting and a fantastic selection of homemade biscuits and cakes ☕🍪🍰

Introducing the winner of the July Employee of the Month - our wonderful nurse, Shanley!

Shanley started here at The Check House Care Home in 2021. Her colleagues have voted for her as Employee of the Month for July because she is always helpful with a positive and calming attitude in any situation!

We have had a lovely, relaxing morning making our own birthday cards. We feel that greetings cards are so much more special when they have that personal touch 🥰

Our terrace has to be one of the best places in the country to have lunch. This afternoon we have enjoyed a stunning barbeque overlooking the glimmering sea, with mouth-watering burgers, fresh salad and a selection of refreshing drinks 🍔🥗🥂

Special Delivery!🚚

Yesterday Pat went to visit the new Londis - Colyton The Folletts to have a look around and whilst she was there she had a chat with Will, who alongside his business partner Mike have taken over the shop.

Will had such a lovely time chatting to Pat that today he brought a special delivery of flowers and malteasers to brighten her day!🌹

We already have a lovely relationship with Londis - Seaton Fore Street, who regularly kindly donate cakes, sweets and biscuits for the residents here, and we look forward to working with both stores in future.

We have an incredible home cinema system with a huge screen, full HD projector and surround sound system. It is quite versatile - we enjoyed a group exercise class shortly followed by a film with some snacks! 🍿🍿🍿

Our good friend Louise at Gone Dotty has made us these beautiful gifts as a thank you for selling their brilliant Dementia Daisies! We are still selling them at £2.50 each, with all proceeds going to Dementia charities 💜

We had a brilliant evening yesterday, watching the UEFA Women's Euro 2025 Final. Defending champions England beat Spain after extra time and penalties. We are looking forward to cheering the Lionesses on again at their next tournament, the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup! ⚽️🏆🥇💪

What a day we had yesterday at our annual Summer Party - undoubtedly one of the highlights of our social calendar! This year's theme was "Check House Fiesta" and we spent the afternoon enjoying the party on our incredible terrace. Our wonderful staff sang karaoke and performed some brilliant dance routines. There was a delicious selection of Mexican food and desserts along with a mocktail bar serving fruity and refreshing drinks. There was a tombola and photo booth, and best of all, we raised an incredible £130.00 for our charity of the year, the amazing Make-A-Wish UK! We can't thank everyone enough for their kind donations, and we would especially like to thank our team of hugely dedicated staff for all their hard work in putting on such a brilliant Summer Party ❤️
